I have a Roxio CD that I used on my old XP notebook. I just got a new notebook running Vista Home Premium. The CD that I have just says "Roxio Creator 8.2 XE with CinePlayer. I think I may also have Easy Media Creator version . I don't burn CD's or DVD's very much but I occasionallly do. Mostly I have been using flash drives. Does anyone know if the CD I have will work on Vista Home Premium? I really don't have the funds at this time to purchase software. That will come after I pay off the new notebook (12 months I hope. I already had a Norton subscription and Spysweeper that works on the Vista notebook. I may have to look at some shareware or freeware until I can afford it. I am retired and disabled and the computer is my main source of enjoyment.

If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it. I had a bad experience installing Windows Plus for XP but got that handled okay, however I don't dare install anything until I check it out.

The Roxio Creator 8.2 XE, for sure wont work, could you provide some more info on the EMC one.

However, Vista includes the ability to burn data and music CDs, and data DVDs. That may be all you need.

Vista's default method of writing discs is its Live File System which acts "as if the disc were a floppy disk or USB flash drive" but apart from all the above it also has Windows DVD Maker if you want to burn DVD-Video discs.

There's an extensive help system in Vista if you look for help on 'burn discs'.

Hmm ... well, hopefully Vista has something stable there in their "floppy-like" capability, but if it turns out they don't we can call on you, Brendon, to assure people they haven't lost their data. I don't plan to downgrade to Vista.

I believe that Lynn was passing on some useful information to the OP.

I moved from WinXP to Win2000. I still boot the Beast (WinXP) for heavy-processor stuff like burning and scanning.

Lynn shouldn't be recommending a third-party program and you shouldn't be endorsing that, when Roxio programs should do the job nicely.
If a guru can't recommend Roxio programs because she hasn't the experience. then she is out of her depth both in this forum and those for higher versions.

Roxio is a third-party program. Anything that the Operating System won't do on its own is a third-party program.
