Hey Guys, I am pretty new to all this. I was trying to burn a HD video for the first time onto BD-RE and after about 3 hours of Transcoding everything looked good. Then when it began to write - the disc drive popped open and a message stating something like the disc (BD-RE) was not able to be used in this drive. I searched the posts and didn't see anyone else having that issue. Is DVDit HD Pro able to burn to BD-RE?

My project was a home video of about 45 minuets. Filmed with a Sony HDR-HC3. I was able to burn the project to DVD-R without incident on my desktop (For family without Blue Ray Players) However, when I try to simulate the project I get error messages when I click play on any video; but I burned it and it worked fine anyway. But thats a seperate issue I hope! Then I did the same project on my laptop Sony VGN-FZ180E and as a said transcoding was fine but would not write to the disc. It is a brand new Sony BD-RE disc, just opened. I thought maybe it was the Laptop but I used Roxio Easy Media Center and backed up some data to the BE-RE and it worked fine. This is my first time using the blue ray burner. I have been working on this project for like 4 months and it is very disheartening to keep hitting roadblocks. I have had almost every other problem on these forums as far as missing codecs, crashing while dragging media and even reset Desktop to factory install once. Please help.

First suggestion:
burn to volume first
then
burn disc using the volume created in step 1.

This separates the work into two distinct parts ... 1) get ready to burn and 2) actually burning a disc.

And yes, the software works with BD-RE.

Ok. I tried that. The volume wrote successfully but when I try to burn the volume to disc the error is: Recorder can not record on this kind of disc. Is this a VAIO issue? It's a sony BD-RE in a Sony VGN-FZ180E which as I said does let me record data on the disc.

it sounds like for some reason your BD-RE disc needs to be initialized before it can be used. not sure what program you can use to do that.

Nero has a downloadable trial version.
You can download it, install it. If you pick UDF 2.5 when you burn the blu ray disc, it will work.

Hi,
I always write first dic image and second step burn disk. Choose the ISO file.
This is working without any problems
