I have a Dell Inspiron 8300 (1.73 GHz; 2.0 GB Ram; Windows XP Media Center Edition) that I have tried to install a store bought version of Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 into. This combination renders Windows Media Player 11 inoperable: it won't play or recognize any music CD.

Prior to Windows Media Player 11, I had problems with Windows Media Player 10 using this same Easy Media Creator 8. I spent $80.00 for this software in 2006-2007 and I have yet to get it to function properly. I have found, through trial and error, that my computer (more or less) works without error when installing only three of many applications offered by Easy Media Creator 8: "Videowave/MyDVD;” “Label Creator;” and “Music Disc Creator.”

Has anyone encountered the same problem? If so, is there a "fix" available? If not, can anyone comment if Roxio/Sonic Easy Media Creator 10 performs better on Windows XP?

The problem is WMP 11 and Roxio software version 8 on down. Click # 6 in my signature for a fix, if you want to use the V 8 software. You probably will have to uninstall a reinstall V 8 after removing WMP 11.
