Jus thad Computer Operating system re-installed when I replaced my hard drive. Now, when I attemp to add new titles to my DVD project they don't appear on the 'menu' screen. The DVD disc project size bar indicates amount of data installed, though no titles appear. What can I do to correct this issue?

Sounds like whoever re-installed your system (guessing it's XP) installed IE 7. Both IE 7 and WMP 11 are not compatible with EMC 7. Uninstall IE 7 so it rolls back to IE 6.

I think you need to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 and use IE 6. Instructions here: http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=23162

Internet Explorer 7 'breaks' EMC 7 DVD Builder and causes you not to be able to add the titles. Also make certain that you turn off Windows automatic update and if you decide to install WinXP SP3, make certain that Internet Explorer 7 is not installed. ( SP3 won't let you uninstall Internet Explorer 7)

Was this problem fixed in later versions of Roxio media?

But IE7 with its bloat wasn't - browser of choice for most here is Firefox (IE7 is that 'good' that even MS issued a registry patch to STOP it being automatically installed)

WMP11 has only one 'advantage' over 9 and 10 - it has far tighter DRM control

There was no problem with the EMC 7, 7.5, and 8 software. Microsoft had the problem, and broke them.

EMC 9 and 10 work fine with IE7 and WMP 11.

I am new to the Easy Media Creator world. I am a freelance editor, and one of my clients has a Windows XP based Avid System and distributes their programming on DVD. They used to use ReelDVD, which is no longer functioning. Now they have EMC 7, and I am having the exact same problem as grampaduane. Since this is not my system, I want to be sure that IE7 is definately the culprit before informing the house I.T. person that it is their browser that is causing the problem with DVD burning. Could it be anything else? (The IT guy is a huge mean guy)(kidding)

It could also be Media Player 11 laugh.gif

Both of those cause problems with EMC 7 and 8. You have to uninstall them and, quite probably, have to do a clean re-install of EMC

WMP11 and IE7 are both backports from Vista and made some radical changes in the XP kernel

One big problem that may occur is that you cannot uninstall IE7 after SP3 was installed - SP3 must be uninstalled and then IE7 after that. It may be quicker to 'format C:\'after backing up all data

whoa, nelly......methinks we need to slow down a bit here. Not only am I an old fart who has been editing since we used to cut film (and 2" videotape) with a razor blade, but most of my digital experience has been in the mac world- I am just now being born into things windows. That being said, I get that EMC=Easy Media Creator, and IE=Internet Explorer, but what is SP3?

Oh, and I checked and they have Windows Media Player 10, so I should be okay on that front?

And for the record, they are running Windows XP 2002.

And I do appreciate the help.

SP3 = Service Pack 3 wink.gif

Latest collection of patches and updates rolled into one

If you go to control panel, system, it will say something like

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

If the last line says Service Pack 2 or 1 (or doesn't even have that line) then you can just uninstall IE7 from add/remove programs (as I said, EMC may need re-installed). IOf, however, it IS Service Pack 3, then that has to be uninstalled first, then IE7 and finally repair EMC

Got it. A quick look reveals service pack 2. I will look into the IE revitalization process. That will be next week. As previously mentioned, I'm a freelancer and not scheduled back until then. And thanks for dumming it down for me.

Well thanks for that ... was just about to start pulling my hair ou
Have just tried installing EMC 7 on a new quad core and a dual core laptop and couldnt get DVD builder to work on either

I think it may be easier to get a newer version.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between EMC 10 and Creator 2009
