I don't know the inner workings of Toast. I'm pretty sure Toast uses QuickTime for reading certain video files but uses its own encoder for MPEG 2 encoding.
Well, it took me long enough (work has been pretty taxing), but I have some more information. First, I have a section of the Toast crash report:
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00010004
Thread 0 Crashed:
0 libSystem.B.dylib 0x90001f40 szone_calloc + 0xe4
1 libSystem.B.dylib 0x90002888 malloc_zone_calloc + 0xc4
2 libSystem.B.dylib 0x90003258 calloc + 0x4c
Do you know what libSystem.B.dylib is?
