I have been using EMC7 for a long time then all of a sudden my recordable drives are no longer seen in the device list. I have uninstalled/reinstalled EMC7 with no change. Anyone know why my drives would just disappear all of a sudden? There were no updates done at anytime with any other programs. Other programs like itunes, adobe encore, and windows media player still see the drives but just EMC7 will not. Its all very strange that one day it would just stop, and reinstalling the software has no effect.
Windows XP Pro, service pack 2, Dell PWS360, Pent4 2.8G, 2G RAM

Have you tried
the pinned post at the top of this board. Try that and post back.

That did not work. Thanks though...

You can try going into device manager and delete the drive(s), reboot and then Windows will pick them up again and, hopefully, EMC will too.

Moretea, it's possible something else in your system may have got tangled with your burning engine. I'm not sure if your version of EMC had switched over to the PX engine, but running
this engine updater can't hurt, and may just fix the problem.

When I click on the link, I see a post, by Terry, with a link for the pxengine.

The only pinned post at the top of this board is the one I mentioned, Bruce.
Terry's pinned post at the top of the Install/Uninstall/Update board is for the old version 1.08.34a updater. I've given a link for the 3.00.58a updater.

Actually, Brendon, that is the post that is linked to.

That's what I said.
Have you any experience of running EMC 7/7.5 Lyn? If you want to argue, please take it to PMs rather than scaring Moretea away.

I erred. The post I linked to was the pxengine post but it is not located at the top of THIS thread but at the top of the Intall/Uninstall/Update portion of the EMC7/7.5 area.
Sorry to have caused confusion. Either way, we seemed to not have helped Moretea with the problem.

No problem Paul. smile.gif
It's our contention that there's confusion. Some folks would have nothing to write about without it.
MORETEA,If the PX engine update didn't help, perhaps kick-starting the Dragon Engine might do it. See
this knowledgebase article.
