I am using Creator 9 with a Dazzle. I am trying to capture either to disc or plug&play burn. I both tools I can see the picture and hear audio, but the status message is "No signal" and the Capture Now button is unavailable. The kicker is that this used to work; I have done this many times, though I have not done it in over a year. In that time, I have made no hardware changes.

To summarize, I have a VCR with RCA connectors into a dazzle. I Video Plug & Burn, the Input = Composite Video. Options Device = Dazzle DVC90. I have a DVD-R in the drive and ready to go. I can see the picture playing in the preview, and I am hearing audio.

Windows XP

Any thoughts?

What are you trying to capture? Not a commercial dvd / tape?

No, not commercial. This is some hold home videos. Like I said, this has worked before and I cna't figure out what is different.

Plug and Burn won't work. That's for importing from a digital video camera.
You need to use Media Import. The Device should be the Dazzle, the input should be Composite.
You should see the picture if it's set correctly. You should also hear sound,if you don't then go to options below the picture and make sure the sound is not muted.
If all this happens then you should be able to capture.Make sure you start the tape and have a picture before you hit Capture.

I've done this many times and it works with no problems.

It fails with Meda Import too. Same exact problem. I see the preview and hear the audio, but the status message says "No signal".

That fact that I am seeing the picture and hearing the audio in the preview tells me that the dazzle is working and hooked up correctly.

So why am I getting "No signal"???

A dumb thought but the VCR still outputs the results to the TV using the same set of output ports? Would you happen to have a different VCR to verify if the signal is actually being lost.

I do no thave another VCR to test this. I did hook this VCR up to a TV using the same ports just to test the output. And that works as I would have expected because -- remember, the Preview *is* working in Media Import and in Plug&Burn.

I am realy stumped by this.
