Has anybody had an issue similar to this?

I was trying to convert a DVD movie to a 3GP format for playing on my phone. I can play the movie, but there's a sync issue. The video and audio start off the same, but the video plays slightly faster than the audio and after ten minutes, the video is separated from the audio by two seconds. After twenty minutes, it's separated by more than five seconds.

Is there a rhyme or reason to why this occurs? It hasn't happened on ALL my videos. I was able to convert one to the 177X144 100 video/ 122 audio 15 frame bps rate and have it be successful, but a different one was not.

I've had similar issues converting movies for my Zen Creative MP3 player. For whatever reason, the video is faster than the audio.

I have a Motorola V3xx phone (it's the Razor) if it's necessary.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you could tell us what software you are using?

The Version??

The specific program within the suite???

The source of the movie????

I am using Easy Media Creator 9, Video editing software

The source of the movie is a recorded DVD from tv (Cable). It's a DVD recorder (Phillips...if that's necessary) on a DVD RW+/-

I would record the movie on TV. Then I'd go into "Edit Video". I would save the compilation as whatever the show was named (For example....CSI, or Rocky, or Godfather...whatever.) Then I would try to output the movie on a 3GP file.

"The Matrix" was successful. "Godfather" was not. Same exact DVD RW.

I think the output used was 176X144 100 video/122 audio 15 bps framerate.

It's a maddening process. There are seven different outputs to 3GP, and I've tried them all...the one shown was successful twice, but failed five times.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

OK so we will move the entire thread to the V9 area…

Process seems OK although I wouldn't bother with the Edit Video on your Recorder. Since you are using 'plus' media you should not need to finalize the RW.

That is just to save you a couple of minutes and will do nothing for your problems…

I would go for the easy stuff first.
  • Clean up your HD of Temp files and clutter
  • Defrag your HD, twice will not hurt
  • In VW try Tools – Options – Render – Software

There are the usual suspects for the problem you are seeing. I assume you are using VideoWave but you did not say.

Yes, I am using Video Wave, sorry I forgot to mention that. I am VERY new to this.

When I try Tools-Options-Render-Software, what options will I be choosing? Any idea?

Thanks in advance for all your help with this. I do appreciate the expert advice. smile.gif

That's very funny. smile.gif

Quick question:

I went into my hard drive to wipe out all the "Temp" files. I don't remember there being so MANY files named "Temp". It seemed like there was about two dozen files with a "Temp" label.

Is there a....uh....specific temp file that I should be deleting?

Also....should I change any of the settings when I get to "software"?

Thanks very much for all your help. I do appreciate it!

PS....father in law is also a Vietnam vet. I am a big supporter of the troops! Thank you for your service to your (and my) country!

The disc cleanup is a Windows program under Accessories – System Tools – Disc Clean up. Same for Defrag.

You have not even tried the VW MyDVD settings I listed… There is no mistaking anything once you open it up!

Who said anything about Viet Nam? Is my Agent Orange showing??? biggrin.gif

Thanks for all your help with this issue, Jim...however I tried all your steps over the weekend and I am still having the same issues.

It's very strange. I got two of them to work, but the rest of them do not. The video track slowly separates from the audio track.

It's GOT to be a problem with Roxio because I watched the DVD, and the audio and video line up perfectly. I converted to 3GP for my phone and ran the "Preview" feature. In the preview, the video track is slowly separating from the audio.

I ran defrag. I ran disk cleanup. I tried Tools – Options – Render – Software, to no avail. I tried saving the movie to my hard drive and opening it up using Tools-Options-Render-Hardware...and it STILL runs off. I recorded the NASCAR Race last weekend and tried THAT...with the same lack of success. I can't even figure out how to edit out a second worth of sound every five minutes or so...so that it would be "Close".

There's GOT to be some setting I am missing. What would make VW read the Audio and Video separately? What can I use to manually remix them?

Thanks so much for the help! I do appreciate your insight.

Jaybod1, when you want to quote someone, just click on the Reply button. It puts the quote in proper form. The Quote button, which should be the one, to quote a message, doesn't do what the word says. mad.gif

Thanks!

I'll do that.

I wanted to acknowledge that I tried that which was requested of me, without success.

I am really struggling with this formatting issue. I don't have any idea how to fix this audio issue. Is there a way to either slow down the video playback, or speed up the audio playback so that they sync with each other? I have tried just about everything.

Thanks in advance!
