I have had EMC-9 for a few months now but have never been able to capture a video with it. I've been using Windows Movie Maker do capture with, but would really like to get this problem solved.
I can open the video capture screen with no problems, and get the video on the screen as well.. Problem is, the capture full tape, and capture now buttons are grayed out. The play, stop, forward, and rewind buttons are grayed out as well. It also says "No Media".. All the time I'm watching the small video screen work quite well.
I thought I might need the 9.1 update but it kept telling me it couldn't find a correct software version.. So, I checked again to see what version I have,, And this is it.. Version: 9.1.068... Build: 910B68R, R03
I'm using a Gateway NX860XL with windows Vista 32.. I bought the software from Roxio and still have the box and key
I could really use some help...
Thanks a bunch

What are you using to capture the video? Is it a USB, firewire or other type of connection?

I'm using a firewire, Dazzle Hollywood dv-Bridge... It has worked with every other version, on every computer I've owned over the last few years.
It works well with Windows Movie Maker as well... For what's it's worth

From what device are you capturing, analog or digital camcorder or what?
If you are capturing from a digital camcorder and the camcorder has a firewire (or DV) outpute then you should be able to directly connect the camcorder to your PC via the Firewire cable.

That might be the route I should go.. But right now I'm trying to capture some old vhs home movies from an older (AV Cable) VCR... AV cables from the VCR to the capture card, and from there a firewire cable to the PC... I just don't understand why the buttons in the software are not working..
Do you think there is a chance a new version would do the trick? I know it would only be a guess, but I'm about ready to try something new

I'd suggest that you use Windows Movie Maker to capture the video to a folder on your computer. Then you can use Media Manager in VideoWave to bring the video into EMC 9 program.

You could try the Dazzle website to see if they have any updated drivers, but that's no guarantee that Roxio recognize the device.

I'll give it a shot.. Thanks

Of course the play, stop, forward reverse, plug & Burn buttons will be greyed since they are not applicable when you try to capture from an analog device. Did you not get software with the Dazzle device that will capture?
