The Easy Media Creator 9 was with the Vista Home Primum within the DELL Inspiron 6400.

I couldn't start the EMC. Error msg showed 'my trial verion expired'. I did the clean re-installed as per recommended by DELL and Roxio. Registered on-line (on web). No 'expired' error msg displayed any more.

Now I can start the EMC when I am Internet connected (with either LAN cable connected or Wireless ON). However when the laptop is isolated from Internet (no LAN, no Wireless), I can no more start the EMC. The two 'standard' error msg are :

1. Roxio Creator has stopped working - Windows is collecting more information about the problem. This might take several minutes ...
2. Roxio Creator has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I further found out that if I first start the EMC (with LAN/Wirelss connected), it stays ok regardless whether or not I keep the LAN/Wireless later. It looks to me the problem is on the log-in stage.

Any comments from you experts pleasee? Better still advise me some fixing. Thanks!

Yes, Dell's version is the one that only works, when you are online. The retail version, of EMC 9, does not have that problem.

You need to direct your questions, to Dell.

Thanks for your advice. DELL recommended two patches :

http://ftp.us.dell.com/app/R172217.zip
http://docs.sonic.com/support/px/pxengine2_08_40d.exe

So far so good, EMC09 starts ok when laptop connected or disconnected from Internet.

Thanks for your advice. DELL recommended two patches :

The first patch will patch Dell EMC901B16J to version 17S. It replaces several modules.
The second patch looks like an older version of the PX engine. The current version is 4.x

Brendon
