Has anybody had problems with importing videos using a HD Camcorder. I go into Capture Video and the only device it recognised is my Web Cam. The USB is working fine as I can import them using the software that came with the Camcorder, but it won't let me do it on Roxio 9. I have just upgrade from Roxio 10 and was unable to do it with that.

What version of the software do you have. Roxio 9 could refer to EMC 9 or Roxio Creator 2009 - there is no package called Roxio 9
If your camcorder does not record to tape then you do not use the Capture option but simply copy the Video_TS folder from your camcorder to your hard drive. Windows Explorer should see your camcorder as a "device"
If you record to tape then you should be using A Firewire connection to capture. Roxio capture is not designed to work with USB when capturing.
What does the HD stand for in "HD camcorder"? It could be "High Definition" or Hard Drive. There are problems with the JVC Everio camcorder. Read through the pinned post at the top of this forum or do a search in this message board for "Everio"

Since you have a hard drive camcorder, just copy the Video_TS folder from your camcorder to a folder on your PC. There is no need to use the Capture option.
BTW, please be accurate when describing the program suite you have. There is no suite called Roxio Creator 9: it is either Roxio Creator 2009 (sometimes also referred to as EMC 11) or Easy Media Creator 9. They are 2 completely different packages and their names have caused all sorts of confusion.
The Hidef JVC doesn't use video_ts folders. Which model do you have Margaret? HD5 or HD6? I believe both models use the HDV MPEG 2 format in several resolutions. As Walt pointed out, you don't need Media Import. Connect the JVC to the PC with the USB cable and turn it to VCR or playback mode. Windows should recognize the camcorder like an external hard drive and assign a drive letter to it.
Open MY COMPUTER
Double click on EVERIO drive letter
I forget what the top folder is named, but there should be one called PROG001, etc., depending on how much you've used the camcorder.
Open PROG001 and you should see lots of files with .MOI and .TOD
The .TOD files is the video. You just need to copy those to a folder in your computer like My Documents/My Video.
Videowave/MyDVd does not recognize the .TOD so you will have to rename the file extension to .m2t. They will ask to convert the file before adding to the production or project. Click OK and select a folder for the converted file. That should be it.
