Hi all,

I have been using EMC 7.0 for several years and was happy with the software until this week. The DVD drive was ejected when I click "Burn" to copy either data or music to a blank CD or DVD-ROM. Then, an error message was displayed as following:

" Please insert a blank disc into the recorder(s). You migh use any of these types of media: CD-R, CD-RW, CD-RW high speed, CD-RW ultra high. All recorders must use the same media type"

The DVD drive is DVD RW-AD-7581A and the write speed is 24x Max.

Note: please note that I tried different speed or different type of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM disc without success.

Please give me your suggestions.

Thanks.

That sounds more like your drive can't 'read' the info on a blank disc and doesn't know it's there.

What does it say in My Computer, properties when you put in a blank?

(right click on the optical drive and select properties)

btw - you didn't 'update' to Internet Explorer 7 or Media Player 11 did you?

Here is the information when I checked drive's properties.

"This device is working properly.

If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter."

Please note that the Roxio software worked correctly until I switch to new computer. In addition, I am able to burn music to the disc using Real Player software, which indicate that the CD/DVD drive works correctly. The Media Player is 10.0 and the Internet Explorer is 7.0

Thanks for your quick response.

You just killed most of the working order of EMC 7, with Internet Explorer 7 installed. If you want it to keep working, you will have to roll back to IE 6.

But, try the Px engine update, here, first.
