I'm very new at this so please bear with me if my questions seems trivial and so simple to you gurus. I need your help!

I am using EMC8 - Media Import to import from a digital camcorder. I'm a little confused as to what I want to download as. I need the absolute highest quality I can get even if it makes for extremely large files. Then I need to save to DVD. I'm sure the AVI file that is being created is not what I'm after. Don't DVDs contain two folders - one that is called VIDEO_TS and another that is similar to that ? How do I get it to download to a DVD format?

Thanks
gi7omy
You're both right and wrong

DVDs do require two folders - but the avi file is not what is used on the DVD

You load the .avi into videowave and then go off and potter about for an hour or two while it converts the avi to DVD format

The recommended way is to output the videowave to DVDBuilder and bustr as an image file to the hard drive. Open that (just double click it) and it will then burn to the disc and also shrink it to fit. Bear in mind that a standard DVD will only hold about one hour viewing at best quality - if it gets shrunk too much, quality will drop off

Thanks a bunch - I appreciate your help. I loaded the .avi into videowave and attempted to convert to DVD but got an error which I have since read may be caused by not having an update driver for my video card. Is DVDBuilder part of EMC? I didn't see that option.

It was last called that in EMC 7.5, when Roxio and Sonic merged. In your version, it is called MyDVD.

What error did you get? What type of .avi file is it?

I'm not for sure what I was doing ! But I think I have it now. Is there any place to get free menu styles for EMC 8 ? I only have three and none of them fit what I need.

Thanks

There should be two CDs with EMC8 - one called 'content' which will contain the menu styles

Get that and install it
sknis
Did EMC 8 have a basic version that came with just a few templates and had some other things disabled?

To the OP, what subversion of EMC 8 do you have?

Most likely the goodies from the second CD weren't installed. I'll call our IT Dept and have them install the other CD. Thanks!
