my hp computer came with roxio 9 installed, used it for awhile but the dvd compose would always shut down the program so i downloaded th 9.1 updater and everything was great til last week it stared comin up with a "need to activate mpeg2 decoder"to run the dvd program so i would hit activate and it would try it on its own and fail with an invalid key alarm so i went through the websites page on how to activate it
offline and followed those steps and it tiold me i would have the key and while goin through the steps it told me that my key would be on line son i got no key
then i tried the chat help and after he asks what version i have and i say 9.1 he rudely sends a link on windows clean uninstaller then hangs up no more quwstions"twice" so i do what he says well now i have done a clean uninstall but i cant reinstall because the 9.1 downloader needs the original 9.0 on the computer to work and it was a preinstall already on so what do i do now?
Calm down and use a spell checker and re-read your post before you upload it. It is really hard to understand if you run the sentences together and write the bolded text. If I misunderstood your post, repost with a little more thought put into it. Be aware that we are no Roxio so we can't give you a key. We can only make suggestions based on experience.
That EMC 9 you had on your computer was an OEM
unless you specifically paid around $90 for it. As an OEM piece of hardware, it is crippled and limited as to what applications and options are available.
The 9.1 update is for the full commercial version of the software unless you got the update directly from HP. Although you were somehow able to download it, it did not really install and may have screwed up the OEM installation. You may have inadvertently generated a trial version which was available for awhile. Since you never purchased the full version, you would not get the key.
The live chat person was correct, you need to use the full (Uninstall)/Install to get rid of the damaged OEM then you need to reinstall from the HP disc. If you don't have the disc,
call HP. All your tech support should come from them.
