I have Easy Media Creator 10 Suite

We have a new digital camcorder. I cannot get the camcorder and the Roxio program to connect for purposes of capturing video off the camcorder. When I try to import video off the camcorder, I cannot get Roxio Media Import to locate the camcorder or the video on the camcorder. (I can, however, get Media Import to locate and capture the photos on the camcorder.) When I plug in the camcorder, the AutoPlay dialog box that comes up does not contain an option for "using Media Import." The "Transfer music" option ties in to Windows Media, not Roxio Media Import.

I can download video from the camcorder onto the computer. The camcorder dumps the video into a "myworks" folder on the computer. I cannot, however, figure out how to get Media Import to capture the video in the "myworks" folder.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your connection must be firewire to work.

However, if the camcorder is disk type or memory type, you should just be able to copy the files to your hard drive

My camcorder is a JVC Everio, which uses a USB connection rather than firewire. I checked online, and the result is that some video editing software (and Easy Media Creator 10 must be one of them) do not immediately recognize the camcorder when it is plugged in.

I can, however, copy the video files from the camcorder onto the computer, into a file designated by the camcorder.

So, I need to figure out either (1) how to get EMC10 to recognize the camcorder, or (2) how to import into EMC10 the video files that have been copied from the camcorder to the computer.

Again, any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, you cannot capture video using a USB connection with Roxio; immediate or not. You should have a firewire (IEEE) terminal on the dock that came with the camera.

Have you finalized the disc on the camcorder? When you copy the files to your computer, what format are they? From what I see, they might be mpg2 files labeled as VOB files. After you copy the files to your hard drive, you should be able to add those directly to Video Wave.

If the problem is the 16 by 9, then you might want to read and try this. (Thanks Gary)

BTW, there are several varieties of Everio camcorders, it would have been helpful if you had posted the complete model number.

Good info...but I have the same problem. I can transfer the video files to my computer hard drive, but I am unable to transfer them to the video vave files for use. I have tried two JVC Everio cameras: GZ-MG330AU and GZMG37U. When the files download to the computer hardrive, a HP TouchSmart, they easily show up on the desktop or in the documents as .MOI files and Movie Clips .MOD files. The files play perfectly on Windows Media Player. What I can downloas to Video Wave shows up as needing a different type of filter, but no filter selection works. I just cannot move them for use on the Roxio Media Creator 10 (video wave) or on Creator 2009--that I have on an HP Laptop. The cameras do not appear to have a firewire connector, but do connect via a small USB connecctor on the camera that connects to a normal size USB port on the computers...again, making for easy downloads to the computer harddrive. Basically, I cannot add the files directly to Video Wave as suggested. Any pearls of wisdom?

Have you tried changing the mod extension to mpg and see if VW accepts these?
A Firewire connection is not required since you are not really capturing the video. You just copy from the camcorder to the hard drive.

Thanks...I have tried a .MOD converter trail and have successfully converted MOD to MPG and it slides right in to VW. Haven't bought the software yet (danuisoft), just the evaluation version, but it appears to work nicely.

Now, if I could just get Creator 2009 to load, I'd be in business....always stops short...says the computer hasn't been modified....will continue to read more in the discussion groups.
