Full Version: How Do I Take Chapters From Different Dvds?

I have multiple dvds of concerts, with each dvd having 4 or more chapters. If I want to put together a dvd with Chapters 1 and 2 from the first dvd, and Chapters 3 and 4 from the second dvd, how do I do that? Please explain in detail, as I find this program (and it's guide) to be the least intuitive, most poorly explained software I have ever used.

I figured out how I could select a chapter or two from one cd, and drag it, but it did not physically appear in the window. I could tell it had been added by seeing the thing above the Copy button start to fill-up. But, I could not figure out how to get chapters from another dvd into the Content area.

I am assuming I must somehow first save each of these chapters to my hard drive. I did save one concert (with 4 chapters), but then could not find a way of selecting specific chapters from that for a new dvd.

So, I have given up trying to figure this out on my own. If someone can explain this in detail, I would REALLY appreciate it! This is the sole reason I bought this program.

Here are the steps:
1. Insert the source DVD (if not copy protected) or place the ripped VIDEO_TS folder on your desktop or in the Movies folder.
2. Open Popcorn and be certain its Media Browser is open. The Media Browser is a separate window. If you don't see it then choose Show Media Browser from the Windows menu.
3. Choose DVD-Video as the format under DVD in the main Popcorn window.
4. In the Media Browser choose DVD with the browser's top button. When you see something appear in the browser window click on the button below "DVD" and go to the bottom level that appears in the pop up. This will cause the browser to show the individual chapters that are within the source DVD or VIDEO_TS folder.
5. Drag the chapters you want to the main window. Popcorn will take a little while to extract MPEG video files from the source. This does not involve any re-encoding so the quality is identical to the source.
6. When you're done with that disc or VIDEO_TS folder, replace it with a different one and repeat steps 4 and 5.
7. When you have all the items you want on your new DVD, give the titles that appear in the Popcorn window the names you want to appear in the menu and choose a menu style. Give your DVD a name other than My DVD. Choose the thumbnail image you want to appear as the menu buttons by clicking on the thumbnail image and slide the scroll bar that appears below the thumbnail. Choose if you want the DVD to start by showing the menu or start by automatically playing the first title. Choose if you want the DVD to automatically continue playing from one title to the next or if you want it to return to the menu after each title is played.
8. Choose Save as Disc Image if the content you've added is too much for a single-layer disc and you don't want to use dual-layer media. If you do this select the resulting disc image using the Image File setting in Popcorn and Popcorn will do its fit-to-DVD process when you click the burn button.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, tsantee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your instructions were very detailed, very clear, and everything worked great! I really appreciate your taking the time to do this. I was about ready to take this program back to the store, but with your help, I can now do what I was hoping to do with this. I have printed out your instructions, will make multiple copies, and save it to my computer, also. I strongly suggest anyone wanting to make compilation dvds to do the same!

Thanks again!
