I tried to do the complete uninstall as per instruction on the web site for EMC9. I have tried twice but it won't completely uninstall it still leaves settings in the Add and Remove Prgram. I tried to install Roxio Creator 2009 Special Edition and it won't start up now.

I have a Dell Dimension 8300
3.0 Ghz Processor
1.50 GB Ram
Windows XP - Service Pack 3
cdanteek
Click on # 13 in my signature, READ and FOLLOW the instructions. Print them a good idea.

You start in control panel add remove programs? How many entries do/did you uninstall there? You actually remove them and go back and look and they are still there?

I'm Sorry it wasn't in the Add and Remove I meant in the MSCONFIG under the Startup Tab i have the entries still.

Then how did you follow the clean uninstall instructions twice and not accomplish uninstalling Roxio, impossible!

The first time I unistalled EMC9 with the Windows Install Cleanup Utility, then followed the rest of the instructions, Then I checked and it still left some Unusable links in the programs group. I saw that the Home link still worked even though I unistalled the program and it left settings in the MSCONFIG - Startup. So I then Reinstalled EMC9 again and then tried this time to unistall with the Add and Remove and it still left settings in the MSCONFIG - Startup.

Do you have both Easy Media Creator version 9 and Roxio Creator 2009 installed?

If so do this 'Click on # 13 in my signature, READ and FOLLOW the instructions. Print them a good idea'

Reboot and do this 'Click on # 11 in my signature, READ and FOLLOW the instructions. Print them a good idea.

Reboot, look at the results on your PC don't do anything else, come back to this thread and report the results.

Now you have to print the instructions out and follow them, OK?

I only have Roxio Creator 2009 Special Edition installed. I only have some setting left over from EMC9 still in the MSCONFIG they were disabled but I can't get my Roxio Creator to startup.

I going to try this again with the uninstall.

Make sure you set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders - then go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user4name>\Application Data and remove any Sonic or Roxio folders from there

Did you try to uninstall the programs, still showing in Add/Remove Programs, via Add Remove Programs?

OK, I just got done unistalling Roxio Creator 2009 Special Edition. When I go into MSCONFIG I still have these settings in there (MSCONFIG - Startup)

DMXLauncher "C:\ProgramFiles\Roxio\MediaExperience\DMXLauncher.exe"
DrgToDsc "C:\ProgramFiles\Roxio\Drag-To-Disc\DrgToDsc.exe"
RoxWatchTray9 "C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\RoxioShared\9.0\SharedCOM\WatchTray
sgtray "C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Sonic\UpdateManager\sgtray.exe" /r

I also noticed when I got to the part where I had to disable all in the MSCONFIG and reboot I had a error message that said......

System Configuration
An Access Denied Error was returned while attempting to chacnge a service. You may need to log on using an administrator account to make the specific changes.

I am already setup as administrator

I also noticed that in the ADD and REMOVE I still have Roxix Video Capture USB Drivers
and It won't let me unistall them.

Open msconfig the Services tab, uncheck Roxio entries only, apply, ok, reboot, check now...

Before uninstalling any of the Roxio suites, ALWAYS disable any Roxio programs, running at startup, via the msconfig, reboot, then uninstall.
golferklr
I did this now open msconfig the Services tab, uncheck Roxio entries only, apply, ok, reboot

went into Startup and the entries are still there.

Should I reinstall EMC9 and then retry this disabling everything first then uninstall?

I had happen to me, once, what is happening to you. I did reinstall the software, rebooted, disabled the Roxio items via msconfig, rebooted, and uninstalled, via the "clean install" instructions, and it worked.

I reinstalled the program again, but you don't have to reinstall.

I don't know if this will work for you, but it is worth a try.

I finally got it. I had to totally reinstall my OS and got EMC9 out of my system and Roxio Creator2009 installed. Had to update my Video Drivers and so far it works like a champ, a heck of a lot better than EMC9 which was a piece of junk never could get it to work right. I installed my OS and all of my drivers and Windows updates first before I even installed my McAfee Total Protection2009.

The only question I have now is does anyone know where I could find instructions on how to use the Roxio USB Video Capture Device that came with the Creator 2009 Special Edition. I am trying to copy some home VHS's to DVD and can't find Instruction on how to do it.

Look at this, from Tips and Tricks in the 2009 forums.
