Full Version: Roxio Detects No Destination Drive

A few days ago, my DVD drive disappeared from "My Computer". Device drivers still saw it but stated that the driver had either been deleted or was corrupt (Error code 39). Searched internet for similar problem and was told that it was a problem with the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters and to remove them from registry. I did this, rebooted, and now Windows recognized the drive in both Device Drivers and under My Computers. I thought all was well until I fired up Roxio today to burn an audio CD. Roxio tells me that there is no Destination Drive. I just downloaded the latest PX Engine driver and this did not help. Roxio Creator (Basic) V9 came installed on my computer and I have no disks to reinstall the program. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drive and it reinstalls with the same problem. All help will be appreciated.
You need to reinstall your burning software after you delete the registry filters, because Windows will only insert its own filters when it rebuilds the registry, and not the filter which belongs to the burning software.

Brendon, I did this right after I posted this note. I have the complete package on a recovery partition on my HD. I completely uninstalled Roxio Creator, shut down, and rebooted without it. Then I completely reinstalled the software and rebooted. Nothing changed. Still not seeing Destination Drive. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFCI-08002BE10318} is not showing an entry for UpperFilters or LowerFilters. I also sent an email to Roxio Tech Suppoet. Brendon, after a few more restore operations, and a couple more uninstall and install of Roxio Creator, it booted up the last time with the drive in the Destination Drive box. Just made a short jukebox cd and it worked ok. Thanks for the suggestions. Don
