When I start Toast 10, then go to extras and select TIVO Transfer a window pops up. The window shows several things including DVRs. Under DVRs there is no mention or indication of my DVR. I have entered the media key and other pertinent info. What else should I check???

Which router are you using? Some routers are set by default to block Bonjour discovery -- and TiVo Transfer uses Bonjour to locate the TiVo DVRs on the network. You can use Bonjour Browser from www.tildesoft.com to show you what is being being advertised on your Macintosh as well as other devices on your network -- if you only see services on your Macintosh, something is blocking it on the network layer.

You might also want to verify connectivity between the Macintosh and the TiVo itself. Go into the Phone & Network settings screen on the TiVo and see what's shown for the IP address. Then try to go to that IP address with a browser on the Macintosh. You should get a mostly red "congratulations" screen.

If that works -- try to go to https:// (note the "s") followed by the IP address of the TiVo. You should be prompted for a user name and password. Use "tivo" (without the quotes) as the user name and your 10 digit Media Access Key as the password. If successful, you should see a browser representation of the Now Playing list on your TiVo

Okay... So, I see my TiVo in Bonjour Browser, advertising tvo-remote and tivo-video services. I can view my now playing list in my browser, and even download videos that way. However, I STILL do not see my TiVo in TiVo Transfer.

What else can I try?

Go into the preferences screen for TiVo Transfer and click on the "Media Access Key" tab. Does the ten digit number shown exactly match what appears on your TiVo itself when you go into the Media Access Key screen on it? The Media Access Key screen on the TiVo is in the Account & System Information section.

I have the same problem, no TiVo listed under TIVO DVR. Media Access Key is OK in Tivo Transfer, I can connect to the Tivo through the browser and download files fine.
Any ideas?

(Tried using my Airport Express Ethernet connection following Apple's network layout, also nada)

Connecting through Firefox or Apache all is good, both http and https, I can see the recordings
Apache Bonjour tab does *not* see any services other than my Airport Express
Tivo Transfer does *not* see the DVR.
Tidesoft's Bonjour Browser ver. 1.5.6 also does *not* see any advertisements from Tivo.

Reading several, and I mean several posts about this and other related problems when attempting a connection, I may have come upon something that *may* be the root of all evil. I have a fairly old rev of a Linksys WRT54GS Router (ver 1.0). There seems to be no way to enable Bonjour traffic to pass through the router thus making itself known to Tivo Transfer, although Bonjour printing seems to be just fine which actually pisses me off because I can't categorically blame Bonjour here

My only 2 options left are to direct connect everything wired (pain to do given my configuration) or get myself a new router (maybe this will justify it after all)

Anyone have a similar configuration and successfully connected with Tivo Transfer?

I've heard that on some Linksys routers, there's an option to enable or disable multicast packets (I think it's in a security area) -- but the option in the firmware is backward -- in that enabling it is really turning it off and vice versa

Searching for iTunes Music Sharing (which also uses Bonjour) and Linksys should bring up some relevant hits.

Yeah, well I had all the same issues as those above. The TIVO was not showing up on my mac. I followed the advice to enable multicast packets on my router..... and bingo! up shows the TIVO.
The diagnostic info to look at the TIVO using HTTP and HTTPS was very useful. The latest version of Firefox demands that you add an exception for the lack of a TIVO security certificate. When you do this, the HTTPS page displays as expected.

I also can't see my DVR appear. I have used Bonjour Browser and no Tivo activity appears. In Tivo's "Network Connection" screen, there is no IP address, it says "need from DHCP". The router I am using is an RCA DCM305 and after reading the manual I see no option to enable multicast packets on my router.

Do I have one problem or many problems? Should I just get a different router and if so, which one..?

Unfortunately that means your DVR isn't on the local network, you need to make sure it's talking to the router. I don't know much about that specific router, but TiVo's support might be able to help a bit.
