I have Videowave 8 and I am really not good with it. I want to edit a file. When I try to add the video I get an error message that says: "Stringref: TaskPanes, VP_Msg_Err_insert." The clip plays okay in other players. What's wrong with it (or me)?

What is the source of the clip?

Also, have you installed either Internet Explorer 7 or Media Player 11? Either of those will cause problems with the program

I have Vista with Internet Explorer 7 and I believe Media player 10. The clip is from something I recorded from TV. When I recorded it, the recorder (I guess) split the program up into 2 VOB files. I read that I could simply change the file extensions on these files from VOB to mpeg, which I did. Both of thise changed files play on a couple of different players I have on my computer.

Then I wanted to edit out some stuff that was before and after the program I recorded, so I decided to try VideoWave. The first file loaded into VideoWave 8 just fine but the second gives me the error.

8 won't work in Vista - you need at least EMC 9.1

That doesn't make sense to me. It loads one of the files just fine but won't add the other without the error. I have tried loading the troublesome file alone and it wont work. I get the same error message.

I also have used 8 with other files from my video cam and it worked fine. So it doesn't seem like an operating system conflict.

Well, keep on keeping on, because you are the first one, who I have seen post, who has EMC 8 working with Vista.

But, also be aware, that none of us can help you with your problem, outside of what Daithi has already said.

Well, thanks anyway. I hope I didn't sound ungrateful for Daithi's comments, it's just that the program does work with my system, just not with this particular file. Since posting my original problem I have played with other files and EMC 8 and they load okay too, so I don't understand how it could be Vista. (btw, I am not a fan of Vista at all, but I can't figure out how to blame it this time.) It's just this one file....oh, well. Thank you again.

That's part of the problem - EMC up to version 8 is too iconsistent with both IE7 and WMP11 in XP, never mind Vista.

The fact that you got ANY files to work is, in itself, a minor miracle
