I have noticed that Roxio is creating extra files in my Windows backups and is giving them the name of the 'real' file followed by "%%% Roxio EMC Stream" It looks as if the extra Roxio files are all 1k files but I don't know what they are and don't think I need them as the 'real' files have been backed up in their native format by Windows e.g. Word or Excel.
NB This is happening for files backed up by Windows Back Up and Restore Center. The original files on my computer don't have these extra Roxio files. Can anybody please explain why this is happening and let me know how to stop this?

On your desktop, click Start, Run, and type in msconfig. When it opens, click on the Startup tab, and uncheck the box to the left of Roxwatch, click Apply, then reboot.

See if that stops it. I am not sure if it will work for backups, but it is worth a shot.

I looked in the MSConfig Startup tab for Roxwatch but couldn't find it. There is sonething called Roxio Hard Drive Watcher 9 in Services though. This is shown as Stopped. Is this the Roxwatch facilty to which you referred? If so, as it is stopped already maybe I won't get any more of these phantom Roxio files? What do you think...perhaps if I just deleted them from my back up drive and waited to see if any more arrived that might do the trick?

Set that Hard Drive Watcher to Manual, if it isn't set to that, already. Right click, on the entry, select Properties, then, in the dropdown box, change it to Manual, then click Apply, and OK.

As I said before, I don't know if it will work with the backups. You can test a couple of files, that you are going to backup, and see if anything changes.
