I have a Dell Dimension 9200 which has had to be rebuilt thanks to repeated HP software install and uninstalls at the request of HP tech support.

It was rebuilt using the discs supplied rather than restoring the factory image due to all the unwanted cr*p in the oem image.

My question is regarding the software shipped.

Information from CD
The disc is Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 DE.

Is the Roxio software cd [as listed above] a special oem edition for DELL pc's only? I need to apply the DLA patch for sure and I'm wondering whether to install the 9.1 patch upgrade. I need help identifing which version of the patches to install.

Yes, the disc you got from Dell is a Dell specific OEM version.

The 9.1 updates will not work for that version. You should contact Dell to see if they have any updates available for their OEM version.

um ok.

Just thought I'd check. usually OEM software has OEM all over the disc but this didn't hence why I asked.

So i need to install the Dell DLA pacth then not the retail patch I'm assuming.

Just out of interest what are the differences between the version I have and a retail version?

Not a problem. It's not unusual for brand specific versions to leave off an OEM designation.

Yes, you want to use the Dell specific patch for DLA.

I'm not sure what differences there are exactly between the Dell version and the retail versions myself, as I don't have a copy of the Dell one to compare to. There's probably some apps left out, and there may even be some features, functions, or extra content that's in the retail version that are not in the Dell version.
