When creating a BD-R disc, does it need to be "finalized" before playing in a Blu-Ray player?

I've tried (2) different discs, (2) different set top Blu-Ray Players, and the discs play fine in (2) different PC's.

As far as I know, a video BD disc is automatically finalized just like an audio CD and a regular video DVD. What application in Creator 2009 are you using?
