I'm definetly the greenest newbie.
When I record from a casette, each separate piece of music produces multiple tracks.
How do I combine the tracks for burning on a CD?

What makes you think you need to do that???

Notice that every single commercial Audio CD ever made consists of separate tracks…

OK that would be annoying…

Open Sound Editor (Edit Audio) add the tracks and use the Join Clips feature in the Mix Editor at the bottom.

Lastly, Export Mix.

Now when I try to record a piece from a cassette, the recordinding stops at 1 minute, 14 seconds.
Did I do something wrong, and if so what's the cure????

What are you doing differently? Are you saving the audio to the same hard drive/location? Does this happen with one of the cassettes that you were able to capture before? It could be the cassette. Double check that your connections are tight.

Have you inadvertantly checked record for a specific time? *See image).

Are you using "Digitize Lp and Tapes " or "Capture Audio from Sound Card"? I have had minor issues with "Digitize" so I use "Capture Audio". It simply works better. Also the music is captured as one file. You can pause when (or if) you have to turn over the tape. It allows a direct entry of the file into Sound Editor (second image) where you can (if you wish) cut out as much of the paused area as you want.
