I have a registered D/L'd copy of Roxio Creator 9 with a valid serial number, but have no program disk.

Suddenly, my installed copy fails to run and produces the error message "PX.DLL not found. Re-install may fix the problem."

If I completely uninstall using the steps specified by Roxio, how do I get another D/L to REinstall without having to pay again for the program? I didn't see a screen where I can just D/L a "test" copy of the program, only screens to purchase the product.

I've searched the KB but failed to find any other question/answer on this problem.

I've been using Vista Home Premium with the Roxio without any problem until now. I may have deleted the DLL when I uninsalled other programs. Maybe.

Thanks.

Creator 2009 or Easy Media Creator 9? Two different programs several years apart. Perhaps two or more different fixes.

Do you have a copy of the original downloaded file? Did you pay for the extended download?

I have the cd and folder for Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum.

I do not have the original downloaded file for Roxio Creator V9, although that is the name and icon that appears on my desktop. Can you tell me the filename for V9 and I will search my hard drive to see if I still have it.

I do not know if or how or when I paid for Roxio Creator V9.0.559, but I do have the serial number. Shouldn't that alone allow me to D/L again without charge, if only there is somewhere to type in the serial number?

At this point I would be happy to just reinstall the Easy CD Creator 5 from the original disk, if it would let me.

Thanks again for your help.

FrankM,

Downloads for Easy Media Creator 9 came in many flavors, but all those I saw started with RoxioEMCSuite. . . or RoxioEMCDLX. . . as .exe files, or easy_media_Creator_9_ . . . as a ZIP file. From memory, downloads usually had two files - one labelled as the 'program' and the other as 'content'

Downloads cost companies money, and Sonic/Roxio have their downloads handled by Digital River. Your responsibility is to backup your downloaded software, and Digital River won't let you have extra downloads unless you have paid extra for the privilege. Apart from that, Creator 9 is "out of support" now so they probably don't have it any more. I don't think you'll be able to get a download now, let alone a free one. sad.gif

You won't be able to reinstall version 5 under Vista. Vista doesn't support that old version.

There's one possibility which might help you. There are two versions of a PxEngine upgrader available for download. The older version seems to do a reinstall of the PX Engine, whereas the newer one just upgrades some of the files used. Since you're having trouble with PX.DLL, running the first upgrader and this reinstalling the PX Engine might do the trick for you. There can be no guarantees, but it's worth a try.

The first upgrader can be downloaded HERE.
If that doesn't work for you, I think your options are
[1]find your download file and reinstall
[2]get another copy of EMC 9 second-hand from eBay or Amazon or similar places
[3]buy some more recent software

Please let us know if reinstalling the PX engine fixes the problem. I wish you well.

FrankM,
To add to what Brendon said..... sometimes if you do a Windows Search, you can find that original .zip downloaded file still located on your computer.... usually in a place you'd never think to look.... especially if you're running Windows Vista which tends to hide files.

Note to all......

When you uninstall a program and you get the warning that a .dll file may be in use by another program.... do NOT delete the file or select the option to Delete ALL.

Those .dll files usually don't take up a lot of room on your hard drive and deleting them can cause all types of problems. ( The voice of experience. )
