Full Version: Sound problem

In addition to a problem with dropped frames, I'm having a sound problem: Twice now, "Easy" VHS to DVD for Mac has had no sound input. No, it's not muted and yes, all cables are connected correctly and I have the latest update of the program. Both times I've solved the problem by disconnecting and then reconnecting the capture device from the USB 2.0 port on the back of my iMac. But I shouldn't have to do this. Between this and the missed frames, I'm beginning to think that this product is not ready for prime time.

I've had this same problem. I found that if you have the capture device plugged in before Easy VHS to DVD is started, no audio will be outputted. What you need to do is remove the capture device from the USB port, then start Easy VHS to DVD. The software is going to prompt you to insert the capture device. Once you do that, now you can capture audio. I've spent a whole Saturday figuring it out.

Thank you very much for the information. I never would have figured that one out!

I am having similar problems with not getting any sound input no matter what I do. I have tried all of the tricks suggested without luck. I even tried pulling the USB until prompted - no luck. I am running system 10.4.11 on a MacBookPro with the Easy VHS 1.03 (1.02 does the same thing). I tried it with a Camcorder with no luck either. You can see that there is input from the Mac sound preferences file. It sees the USB and that sound is coming in to the Mac BUT within the Roxio application there is no sound being captured (no bars light up). The video looks fine. I even tired recording a captured movie and the video works well but there is no sound (as expected). I tend to agree that there must be some fatal flaw with either the program or the usb device itself. It would be nice if Roxio would address this problem without our having to call and badger them.

It seems you've tried everything. Have you shut down (not just restarted) and then started the Mac after waiting a couple minutes? Your issue probably needs to be addressed by submitting a support ticket to Roxio.

Yes, I tried completely shutting down and restarting - no difference. Just seems really odd that the sound is obviously coming in through the USB but is not being captured by the program. I'll let you know what the Roxio gurus say about it.
