I've had exactly the same problem and have been having a stellar conversation with Roxio Support: In every response they provide links to self-help, the community forum and every type of general FAQ info other than the assistance I need and, over the last week, still have not been able to come up with the solution. When I mentioned that the problem has been on the forum for a year they respond by scolding me that they are not connected with the forum and would never have time to monitor all the problems there. They've asked for screen shots of the error message and a .txt file pouring out all the details of my system. I'm thinking that, because everything hangs up with the "too big" error message at the very last when establishing links, the .wmv in my motion menu may be the problem even though the .mpg file gets transcoded, too. I'm in the process of trying a .mpg version, in the middle of burning to a volume at this time.
If anyone has solved the problem on his/her own over the past year I'd like to hear about it.
I went through a month of trying everything with Roxio support, to the point where they wanted me to format my computer and start over. I decided to get a refund instead (and complain plenty in the process).
My feeling is that it's a programming issue, where Dvdit won't work properly with certain computers/configurations/other software installed. I was hoping that Roxio support could find out what triggers this error... perhaps, there's some behind-the-scenes calculation issue?
I'd be suspicious that your media is the problem >> As I mentioned, I had a 20gb video clip that burned fine whether in the single-layer or dual-layer setting. If I placed that same video clip in twice (40gb), it gave the "Project size is too big!" error. I had no menu/chapters/audio/etc. when trying this in order to simplify things.
I would recommend trying other blu-ray burning software. They won't do Metadata Importing (for chapters), which is why I got Roxio... but, they will work for you. Of course, if you ever find a solution from Roxio please post, I would re-purchase the software.
I imagine that formatting my computer (and then installing Roxio before anything else, after Windows XP) may have fixed it -- but I haven't got the time to do this and mess up other software.
