I wrote to the list two days ago (topic: I cannot write in CD-RW). According to what Brendon kindly suggested in his first message, I uninstalled Roxio 7 and installed it again, but now the DVD-ROM unit (D:) has disappeared from my Compaq laptop (that is to say, from Windows XP), and I cannot reinstall it using the "Add new hardware feature" of Windows.

Any idea?

(I cannot understand te second message Brendon sent to the list, and why the topic was closed. I am nearly sure that it is the first time I am witting to this list. Maybe some years ago and I have forgotten....)

I have seen now the section "Important Topics" of this forum. I have read the second message (Drive not recongized by Roxio) and I have followed the instructions; now I see and can use the DVD-Rom drive. This important problem has been solved. I will try now to write in the CD-RW using one of the two ways Brendon explained in his first message.

Think it might have gotten inadvertently closed… No worries though it wasn’t due to anything you did laugh.gif

Take a look at this post – Here

Scroll to the bottom where cdanteek has some links listed. You would want to try, 6. Click here, then reboot.

Should that not be enough then try: 7. Click here

I had the same problem just a few days ago. I found a post that directed me to my registry editor to delete two entries:lower filters and upper filters. Not sure exactly where in the registry, and I don't remember the url, but I found it very quickly by googling my question. Worked perfectly.
