Creator 2009 Special Edition. when in the capture module, the program refuses to see a blank disk. The media is DVD-R and the drives are both known working drives. Several disks and different brands attempted.
I downloaded and installed pxengine1_08_34A, rebooted and still doesn't see the disks.
The exact message is: "Location selected has read only attributes. Remove write protection or choose another location".
I removed the filters in the registry and this didn't help.
Later I noticed that there is another engine available, pxengine4_10_28A.
Frustration prevented me from trying that px engine but could this be the problem?

Perhaps it would help if you mentioned what you are trying to do and what program from the suite you are using.
What do you expect to happen if trying to capture from a blank disc?

attempting to capture video from camcorder and burn directly to disk.
Via IMPORT, CAPTURE VIDEO thru Roxio supplied USB A/D converter.
No problem capturing to hard drive but will not see either of the DVD burners.

You're problem is that you're selecting the "Capture Video" option, which opens the main Media Capture app. That can only capture to a hard drive. It cannot capture to optical media (dvd discs) directly.

To capture and burn directly to a DVD disc, you need to select the "Plug and Burn" option. Which will only work with the Roxio USB capture device if you have installed the SP4 update for Creator 2009.

BTW, none of the regulars here recommend the use of Plug 7 Burn. One little thing goes wrong and the disc is trash and you have to start all over.
