I would like to record my voice with karaoke Christmas music. Is there a Roxio program that I can buy to be able to record both the music and my voice at the same time without plugging in input and output cords.

Most all of the Roxio EMC programs (7.x 7.5, 8,9, 10 and C2009 ) you can add music on the music track in Videowave and then also add your voice via a mic as a "narration".

You have to at least plug a mic in, to record your voice, unless you have a laptop.

If you have the music on your hard drive, you can then do it.

You can use Sound Editor, but it will take work to do it. You record your singing, presumably while you have headphones on, listening to the song. You then output that voice file as a .wav file. You then open start a new session in Sound Editor, and bring in the song, then bring in your recorded voice, and overlay one on a track below the other, sync it up, then output it as another wav file.

I have never done this, but I do believe it will work.

Thanks for ans. my last quest. I did everything you told me to do putting my voice on one wav file then reopening Sound Editor and putting in the song. I brought in the recorded voice but the last part where you told me to everlay one on a track below the other can't happen. The Sound Editor on Roxio will only record things at the beginning or end of the tracks. I can't put a track under another unless there has been something I haven't known about for years to do. You then told me after that to sync it up, then output it as another wav file.

I realize it's work but I'm just trying to find a way to do this without plugging in alot of cords and other machines.

I just received a new Dell computer, excited to see that it had Roxio 10 installed on it but saw quickly that it didn't have Sound Editor and other things on it that I needed. Is there parts I can buy I need from Roxio to download or do I have to buy the whole thing and clear what Dell downloaded to redownload the whole program?

Sorry for all the questions, stressed and feel like throwing it all away, please help?

What Sound Editor program were you using before you received the new Dell with the crippled EMC 10 (an OEM version)?
Its easy to overlay audio clips. You add the clips in the Mix Editor by first clicking the + in the Layer 1 track to create the layer for the 2nd audio clip. You can then add an audio clip to this 2nd layer.

I've been using the Roxio program 6 Sound Editor. I guess that might be a program that's too old.
