I have been using Roxio MyDVD Basic v9 for nearly two years, principally to burn edited videos to DVDs. Until now, MyDVD Basic v9 has successfully helped me archive many valued videos and slide shows. Recently, I attempted to burn two edited videos (in WMV format) to DVDs. The first video was previewed and burned without any problems. However, when I tried to burn the second video, the following error message was displayed:

MPEG AUDIO FORMAT MAY NOT BE COMPATIBLE WITH NTSC PLAYERS

Below this message were “Error preventing burn” and “Warning”.

This second video had been previewed without any error messages, but MyDVD Basic v9 was unable to burn it to a DVD even though I pressed the “Burn Anyway” button. Subsequently, I attempted to burn a set of jpeg files to a DVD using MyDVD Basic v9; the same error message was displayed and the video could not be burned to a DVD.

Can anyone tell me what the error message means and how I can eliminate the problem and continue to burn DVDs successfully?

Sounds like your project settings got set to MPEG-1 for the audio somehow, which is non-standard for Video-DVD. It still normally should encode & burn anyway.

Open your MyDVD project then go into File->Project Settings and change the audio option to LPCM or AC3 (not sure if AC3 will be there in the basic version).
