I'm in trouble again. I'm making a movie in Video Wave consisting of 60 still pics and 6 video clips. The video clips were taken by my little Canon pocket camera are .avi format at 30 fps which I have used successfully in all my prior movies including this computer. The clips run from 1 to 5 minutes long and are placed in the movie in random order. In addition to the native audio I have 4 songs in the movie.

I have completed my movie except for tweaking the Pan and Zoom of the individual pics. Initially the movie played perfectly through without a problem. Now the native audio on the video clips will not play everytime. I can make it come back by doing several things. One way is to reboot my computer and starting the movie from the very beginning. I also found that I could get the audio to return by being in Timeline and shutting the little blue button off and on for Native Audio and the Music Audio. In all cases when I Edit any of the native audio clips it shows the audio is still there.

On one occasion I highlighted the native audio on one of the clips and the mute button had a check mark in the box. I checked the other 5 and 4 of the mute buttons on those also had been checked. I did not place that check mark. The 6th one did not have the check mark but still would not play. I finally got this one to play by Replace Panel selection. The panel replaced with all my time settings and played.

I studied the threads trying to find a comparable problem but most of those were for audio that was not in the proper order.

The native audio seems to be the biggest problem but even the songs occasionlly won't play. They are in .mp3 format which I have also used in all my movies successfully.

My Dell computer is only a month old. It came with the Dell Roxio 10-2 program installed. I did not uninstall this program as I was concerned that it may effect my DVD player. Could this be my problem? Is there a way to disable this program short of uninstalling it?

I also, unfortunately, did not get a stand alone sound card. Could this be part of my problem?

No probably.

I would guess that you are doing a lot of editing of that project. Instead of shutting down, just go to tools. options and check the clear" proxy files. That will usually bring them back. I'm not sure what would have set the native audio to mute.

mp3 music is always converted to a format that will play when put on a DVD; I personally have not had problems when using wav files. Not all mp3 files are the same.

Every once in awhile, open Video Wave to a new project and with nothing in the project, do the clean thing above; it seems to get rid of all the old proxy files and has nothing to put into their place so there is nothing there when you do open a real project.

Although you computer is new and probably pretty clean, you might want to download CCleaner to rid of the other junk files that are starting to build-up. Uncheck the "cookies: option and do not use the registry cleaner.

Sorry I can't give you an excuse to buy that audio card!

Sknis, Your suggestion looks promising. You are correct in that I did do a lot of Editing. Most of the video clips were shortened or edited in different ways. I deleted the Proxy files and then opened my Video Wave movie. I moved the bar around in several different positions and pushed play. The sound came on in all cases. Not sure yet until I play around with it some more.

I also tried one other thing that was interesting. I messed with my Video Wave movie until I got it working all the way through. I then Saved it and then opened My DVD and imported the movie. I played it through twice without a hangup. I don't know the significance of this yet, if any.

Do you think that the Dell Roxio 10-2 was a part of the problem?

I posted to soon. Right after I hit the Reply button I went back and started working on the project. Both the Native Audio and Music would not play. In Timeline both tracks showed the blue color that they were on. I cycled the Off On buttons and then the movie played from the beginning. Very frustrating.
