HELP! When I try to restore data that was backed up onto DVD from another computer several years ago, I use the "Device" view. Then when I browse for my DVD and try to open, I get the following error message:
"You do not have permission to open this file. See the owner of the file or an administrator to obtain permission"
I am an administrator on my PC, running Windows XP. What can I do to force BUMP to open and read the .qic file on my DVD???
Do you have the program installed that was used to create the .qic file?
There are two different things both called "backup" - one is created with a "backup program" that will normally use it's own special encoding to make a file, and usually is intended for replacing the information after a disaster. The other is to make a data disc using a Sessions-based program such as Sonic's Data Disc or WinXP's built-in burning, which is readable on any PC.
It sounds like you made one form of backup (the .qic file), and are trying to use it as the other form (a data disc readable on any PC).
