I have been experiencing a very slow start when I click the icon, sometimes up to two minutes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program three times, and I have usee the repairer, but it is still very slow to start. Ant suggestions?

The program does load slowly. Get rid of any malware/spyware that you have on your computer, defrag, and shut down any unecessary running programs, when you try to open the software.

Do the programs run ok, once you get the main window open?

No, once the window is open, I cannot get media Manager to start. I just get the Please wait... Loading component window.

Did you do anything that I suggested 4 days ago? blink.gif

Yes I have done all that you recommended. I did most of that before you first responded. I do not run much other programming except email, and even that was turned off. My protection suite is Zone Alarm and I will be damned if I will turn that off. If Easy media Creator is that finicky, I would just as soon do without it.

Best regards
Brendon
Suggestion:
[1] Unplug from the Internet, to make this a safe thing to do
[2] Disable Zone Alarm
[3] Try starting up EMC 10 and see how things go speedwise
[4] Re-enable Zone Alarm
[5] Re-connect to the Internet, and tell us if there was any difference in the EMC 10 startup.

-If you properly disable Zone Alarm and EMC 10 speeds up, you know what is slowing it down. If there is no change in speed, well at least you have eliminated ZA as a cause.

Brendon,
I have done what you recommended and there was no appreciable difference in the time it took EMC 10 to start(+/- 15 secs). Media Manager never has started. Do you have a recommendation as to what to try next?
Brendon
My first reaction would be to cheer, since I never liked Media Manager, but seriously if MM won't work then you likely have a bad install.

Now the installer for EMC 10 could be called "unfortunate". It seems prone to falling over if conditions are not quite right, and it clutters your system with all sorts of garbage which upset further attempts to install. An ordinary reinstall isn't much use. Often the only thing which will straighten it out is a "clean install" which takes out the garbage prior to a fresh install. Some times folks have found they need to do the "clean install" routine a couple of times to get everything right. It's a real pain, but it's worth the effort.

The instructions for a clean install of EMC 10 in Vista are HERE,
and the instructions for EMC 10 in XP are HERE.
You are recommended to print them out and follow them to the letter.

The Repairer is a specific cure for a specific problem caused by using efficient registry cleaners. It won't help you with this problem you're having.

Regards,
Brendon
