Hello!
I purchased my Dell Studio last December 08 and everything was ok with Roxio, but suddenly (yesterday) every time I start Roxio a message saying "preparing to install" appears and then another one saying that RCPCORE.MSI can't be found, even browsing I can't find it myself... The folders where it should be don't exist... If I press OK the same thing happens, and pressing CANCEL Roxio shuts down and it won't open again unless I reboot my laptop...
I can't find a better solution than uninstall and reinstall! But I can't do that as Dell didn't send me any CD with the software and if I uninstrall it I'd have to purchase Roxio again!
At the Dell Support they tell me they can't help me because it's a 3rd party software, they tell me Roxio staff has to deal with it...
Can somebody help me?
Thanks!

So what software do you really have? Most likely you have an OEM version (which is free and which is a crippled version with many features disabled or missing) for which Dell is responsible if it came with your computer. If you purchased the full version (which version #) you would/should have received a disc.

Hi!
Its name is Roxio Central 36 or Roxio Creator DE... That's the only names I have access right now I guess!
Honestly, I don't remember if I paid or if it was free with my laptop, I know I didn't get any CD with this software... Maybe I have the free version! I talked to the Dell staff and they said it's not their problem! sad.gif
The thing is that I have my laptom since December and I used to run Roxio Creator often, but since a couple of days ago I get that error message every time I try to run it..
Thanks!

You don't have the full version of the product but a DEll version with feautures disbaled as Walt said. I bought a Dell laptop for my daughter and it came with a Creator DE install disc. I think you have 1 of 2 optons:
1. Call Dell again and tell them you need a replacement disc for their verion of Roxo's softwre.
2. Buy Creator 2009 on the cheap because a newer version of Roxio software will likely be released before the end of summer.

You might try this article. It's a long shot. Resolving missing installer, .msi, and network resource issues

The poster said he does not have the software CD, and step 4 of that KB article you suggested states: Restart and Reinstall the software from the original CD or Downloaded file. sad.gif

Perhaps the Dell restore process (hidden partition?) might let the OP do a selective restore. I no longer have a Dell so I can't say for sure if it's possible. I know my HP can do it from the Restore Manager process.
