With Roxio's Easy Media Creator 9 Suite, after opening the program and clicking on "Music Disc Creator," I receive the message which says "Please wait... loading component." This message freezes on the screen and Music Disc Creator does not open.

As suggested in Roxio's Support e-mail , I disabled the startup items and restarted the computer. However, the problem persists.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Yes, this sometimes happened for no known reason. Two suggestions 1) Start it from Windows Start programs or 2) start it from Sound Editor.

There is a cure but it involves a change to the registry. Let me know and I'll track down the "fix" if you are comfortable with editing your computer's registry.

Edit. I found it. It was for EMC 8 but one person who tried it in EMC 9 had success. That person deleted only the Music Disc Creator folder. Again, thee process is simple but be sure to back up your registry if you do try it.

As suggested, I tried to start EMC from the start menu and sound editor. but still have the same freeze i.e. "please wait, loading component."
I've seen some suggested fixes regarding the registries, but my skill level with computers suggests that would be a real bad idea.
Since I think there is a software conflict, possibly with a Microsoft
download, what do you think of uninstalling Easy Media Creator 9 from my hard drive and reinstalling it on my external hard drive?

It won't make any difference. The conflict will still be there. If you read what the registry fix says, you export (backup) the current registry, and if something goes south on you, you bring your registry back in, and you are back to the point you were, before you changed the registry.

What OS are you using -XP or Vista? If Vista, have you updated EMC 9 to EMC 9.1 (if you don't use Drag 2 disc nor Backup MyPC).

The update says this. "This Easy Media Creator 9.1 update does not offer any new features except for Windows Vista Certification. While the update will work with Windows XP and Windows 2000, it is not a mandatory update. All programs except CinePlayer are supported on Windows 2000. "

I'm using XP. Since nothing else worked, I downloaded and installed EMC 9.1 which did not help.

I've tried suggestions 1) and 2), but still get the hang up/freeze.
I've seen some suggestions for clean uninstall and registry modifications, but I know my limitations and editing my computer's registry is not within my skill set.
I appreciate your help.

After I sent you the last reply, it occurred to me that I have recently used a software program called Windows Doctor to clean/modify my registry. Do you think that Windows Doctor may have modified the registry to cause this hangup/freeze?

Thanks for saving me from a wasted effort.
