Full Version: Getting error with installing Creator 2010

When I tried to install Roxio Creator 2010 I get this error.

Setup has determined that your configuration does not support any of the included products.

Here is my PC setup
Dell Optiplex 745 1.86 dual core
Window Vista Business 32-bit
180 GB HD
4 GB Ram
Brendon
Do you have the Vista Service Pack 1 installed?

It is required by Creator 2010, and you'll get that error if Vista SP1 isn't installed.
Bengal313
First of all let me thank you for the response. After installing and updating to the latest service pack Roxio installed perfectly. Now, I just did a fresh install of the latest version of Windows 7 Ultimate on the same machine. This is the error I get.

" Setup has determined that your configuration does not support any of the included products"

I am having this same error trying to install Creator 2010 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64.. When I try to install it it says

"Setup has determined that your configuration does not support any of the included products."

I have tried running install in various compatibility modes for Vista and/or XP SP2.
When I run it under compatibility mode, i get the installer to load however when it starts to install Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 SP1, it just hangs with no CPU activity at all.

I cannot figure out what the problem is. Any ideas?

I have contacted support and am awaiting a response.

Go into command prompt and type "ver"

What Windows version is listed?

I upgraded to Win 7 64 (clean install), purchased creator 2010 yesterday via download and tried to install. I receiveived the same error message as those above.

I am receiving the same error:
"Setup has determined that your configuration does not support any of the included products"
OS is Windows 7
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Try this article:

Clean install instructions for Creator 2009 and 2010 on Windows Vista and Windows 7

Do not skip or add any steps. Then apply sp1 for Creator 2010.

Creator 2010 sp1

Be sure to install the program file/disk before you install the content file/disk.

Thanks Big Dave for responding.
I did follow those steps before, however, I still got the error.
For clarification, I was using a boxed/retail version of Creator 2010, hence there is no "program file/disk" or "content file/disk".
I will follow those steps (again).... maybe I missed something, then d/l and install SP1 for Creator 2010, as I am not able to do any install from the original boxed CD.
This is very frustrating. angry.gif

@Big_Dave
Follow-up
I was hoping this would work...
I followed those instructions with no luck.
I can't use SP1 for Creator 2010, because it NEEDS the original installed, and I am unable to install the original from the supplied CD.
I am in Catch-22 limbo.
Any further assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks
Cheers

fallnout,

Did you temporarily turn off your antivirus and firewall during the install process? If you are running VISTA did you install sp1?

Otherwise, then contact technical support.

I really appreciate your taking the time to respond
I am not running Vista...... I am running Windows 7
Yes I did turn off both AV and Firewall during the install process.
Technical Support has given me resolutions for VISTA, although I did say that I was running Windows 7, so I have replied to them asking for them to take another look at my ticket.

All the posters who had this problem(so far I have read at least 6)...did they ever get it resolved, and if they did what was the resolution?

I doubt that ROXIO is not aware of this problem. angry.gif

Just curious to know, what flavor of W7 are you running? And would that be x86 or x64?

Windows 7 Premium 32bit

At this rate that ROXIO is so bad at fixing this problem, that I may just go out and buy Nero 9 or Cyberlink. Those do install on Windows 7.

Has anyone come across a fix for this yet?
Big_Dave
For those having the problem at the top of this thread, did you apply all the Windows 7 updates prior to installing Creator 2010? I have installed Creator 2010 on both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 without an issue. I didn't have antivirus software or other applications installed.

Are those that are seeing this upgrade from Vista to Win7?

Or Clean Install of Win7?

@Big_Dave
In my case, all Windows 7 updates have been applied.
You are either lucky, fortunate, have an angel on your shoulder or an expert to have Creator 2010 installed on Windows 7, without getting the error.(not meant to be offensive)
@SonicBoom
My Windows 7 is an upgrade
Thanks to you both in trying to help.

ADDENDUM
I checked "setup.exe" on the install disc and found that it was incompatible with Windows 7.
I bought this at the local store, so I can't get a refund from ROXIO and I can't d/l a "trial" copy and use my CD key. I just wasted my money because this will never install on Windows 7.

Based on SonicBoom's query, it is likely that the issue you and others are experiencing are due to an upgrade to W7 from other OS which I'm sure is being looked into. If you noticed, SonicBoom is QA at Sonic. I suggest hold on to your copy of Creator 2010 for now. Or if you have a clean install version of W7 on any system, you should be fine.
Big_Dave
Good point firenhancer! I went the "clean" install choice with my Windows 7 installation into a separate partition.
Sonic Boom
Its not an upgrade issue. I just ran the test of upgrading from Vista SP1 to Win7 and the installation works fine. I'll keep poking around.

Found out you can't upgrade to Win7 without Vista SP1 so that rules out the non-SP update.
I would still like to know what is listed as OS version in command prompt

This is what is listed:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]

Hope that helps.

P.S. My PM,s are not being sent..grrrr

Is C2010 still testing for Vista SP1 even though it's actually being installed on Windows 7 ??
Sonic Boom
My test says no. You need SP1 on Vista to even upgrade to Win7. This shouldn't fail as the OS version 6.1.7600 meets the requirement. I'm a little puzzled as I can't reproduce this.

@Brendon
I really don't know.
They are aware of the problem, but IMHO it is a difficult one to pinpoint. Some ppl have installed it and it is running fine, while others get this error message and it will not install.
I am giving them the benifit of the doubt here.

Hi
With the assistance of SonicBoom, my problem has been solved. smile.gif

To all posters having this specific problem here is the simple solution.

Follow the instructions on Clean Install, located here.
Clean Install

However, where it states
"Note: Some anti virus/spyware programs may not be disabled using the steps listed above. You may need to check with your anti virus/spyware vendor on how to temporarily disable them"

ninja.gif REMOVE/UNINSTALL THE AV. ninja.gif

Disabling the AV will still prevent the installation of Creator 2010, and you may get another Error 0643.

I wish to thank all those who provided their assistance and to SonicBoom, my gratitude. biggrin.gif

I had the same error happen to me and went thru the 'cleaning' process. I still got the same error. I then looked at the 3 downloaded files and decided to unzip them to see if I could determine anything.

I executed from the folder with the unzipped files and YES the setup went on normally and finished correctly. Setting up from the uncompressed folders might be a solution worth looking at!

Unzipping to a folder and running setup from the folder has been recommended many, many times in this forum. rolleyes.gif
