Full Version: Still Can Not Get Creator 2010 To Install

Well, another day wasted trying to get Creator 2010 installed on my laptop. I have been on the chat room several times with those folks and they each gave me different suggestions and none of them worked. I have uninstalled the progroam according to their instructions, created a new account on my pc, deleted some files in the registry and reinstalled it several times.
I finally got the thing to install but now when I open it up to create a DVD, I get this error message: "No Permissions To Launch Application"
When I click on some of the other options on the Home Page, the little square box in the center of the page opens up and the white arrow starts to spin like it is working, but nothing else happens. The home page remains on the screen and nothing else opens up.
Any ideas from this group?
I am so frustrated and of course Frys Electronics will not refund my money and neither will Roxio.

If you are using Vista, turn off User Access Control and see if that helps.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I got the program to install by turning off UAC, but most of the applications won't run. I either get the don't have permissions error, or it does nothing at all - even with UAC turned off. I tried a repair, still no luck.

NOPE.....I have had the UAC feature disabled for a year now on this PC due to it causing problems with another program. So, no that is not the problem and none of the suggestions the folks at Roxio Tech Support suggest works either. I have wasted 4 days now trying to get this program to work and am now seeking a full refund from Roxio since Frys can not refund money on a defective product.
Thanks to all who offer their time, suggestions and help.

Vista Service pack 1 is required. Check to see if you have updated. Right Click My Computer and choose properties. Service pack 2 has already been released. I keep Windows Update turned off and I do these updates manually.

I suspect I "might" be able to fix my problem (same as the OP's) with a clean Vista installation, but I don't want to do that right now. As a test I tried installing on my laptop that's running Windows 7 and everything I've tried so far will launch there that wouldn't launch on my Vista PC. That's a good sign since I will be upgrading my desktop PC to Windows 7 in about a month or so. I'll just use Roxio 2010 on my laptop for now and wait to install it on my desktop PC when I do the clean install of Windows 7.

bfm is running another active thread about this, Here.

That makes this one redundant and confusing, so it needs to be shutdown.
