Hi,

For a year now DVDit Pro HD has been working fine. Now, when I go to launch it, I get the splash screen very briefly and then it quits. I uninstalled it and re-installed it. I put my CD key in and it fails to activate saying the key is invalid.

Any solutions for this problem?

It is likely that activation server is experiencing problems. I suggest trying it again after few hours.

I have the same problem - I was using everything fine last week and now I tried to start DVDit Pro HD and it gives me the splash screen and then nothing. No errors. I deinstalled and reinstalled and the registration went fine. Install finished without any errors. I restarted the computer - I clicked it to start and the same problem. Just a Flash of the splash screen and nothing.

You might have the option "open recent project at startup" activated and that project might be corrupted, go to your projects folder and open up a project that you know works well.

Nope - Didn't work. Got a sonicmpgvout.dll error from the event log, which I took care of. And now the samething from a project or from the Desktop Icon. One quick flash and nothing.

Is there any startup log I can look at?

Did you make any changes to your sys when the error first showed up, for example a new windows update maybe ?

In a way - Yes. I added another quad processor and 4G more Memory.
I got it to work by:

1.) Backing Up the Registry - just in case...

2.) Deinstalled DVDit from the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

3.) Searching the Registry for every instance of DVDit or Sonic and deleteing them. (Not Panasonic - "Sonic" is in the word).

4.) Finding All in Areas on the disks that refered to DVDit. Mainly the Shared area in ProgramFiles (x86) and any thing else. I did not remove any project files - so they are still good.

5.) Rebooted in safe mode and searched Hidden Folders for any referance to DVDit - and removed them. Had to remove Everybody denied access from a few folders to check them (Local Applications, etc.). Restored them to the proper original permissions after that.

6.) Rebooted normally.

7.) Reinstalled/Reregistered.

8.) It worked. rolleyes.gif

So my next question? What is happening to DVDit Pro HD. I see posts that say it is no longer supported. What are people switching to?

I'm back.

Now on my current project, I have to wait about 15-20 seconds for the Video to catch up after moving the timeline pointer/line.

Also the files are not indicating the correct size. I added three mpg files (1G 1.1G. and 780M) and it tells me that I am over the 4.7G limit by 835Mb - it thinks I added 5.5G of data.

The last item I just noticed is that when I add a chapter it won't let me put it where I want it. It adds 18 frames to the position.

I'm not sure were to start.

I have current drivers/NVidia 4500/Z800 dual quad 3.2G Zeons, 18GB of DDR3 memory. Raid 0 15K disk for working storage. Windows Vista 64 Enetrprise.

Any ideas? mellow.gif

Every GOP has an "Entry point" at the start of the group.
when you try to add a chapter - it can only be added at an entry point.
If you have stopped the cursor between 2 entry points the Chapter you add will automatically "snap" to the nearest entry point.

If you have Cinevision (included in the BD Powerstation Suite) you can add extra custom entry points.
Then when authoring in DVDitProHD you will be able to set your Chapter on your custom points.

In other words if those few frames are important to you, you will have to invest in a higher level authoring application like BD Powerstation to set your cutom entry points before using DVDitProHD.
In fact the frame difference you are seeing will probably not be noticeable when the DVD/Blu-Ray is playing back at normal speed.

Thanks - I found that out after I posted this. But I'm still at a loss for the delay on the video and the file size problems.

I saw a message that said DVDitProHD was not good at determining the files sizes correctly, so go ahead and build the project and output it to a file. Even if I add the wave sound file sizes to the video size, I still don't come up with the size it indicated. This is the first time I have had this problem with it.

I also just started using Sorenson Squeeze 6. This is the first import from it I have had.

maybe you have your software set to retranscode the files you added?

if you add DVD compliant elementary stream fils, m2v+ac3 then DVDit should accept without transcoding

be sure you go to your settings and tick "do not re-encode compliant files"
