Background: I just started using Creator 2010 and am working out the bugs while burning/playing back DVDs. The My DVD project I created consists of 12 .wmv files (1.69 GB total). I loaded them into the window as separate clips and responded "yes" to create new menus (3 menus with 4 clips per menu). I chose "fit to disc" for the output quality and burned at 4x to a DVD + R disc. When the DVD played back on my Insignia player, I could not surf from clip to clip using the remote, so the menu was pretty much useless. I could play the clips and surf consecutively by hitting the "next" button. After this happened, I experimented with a smaller project consisting of 5 clips (about 150 MB total) and was able to surf clip to clip, from menu to menu, and also to home from the second menu. The menu seemed to work fine for the small project.

My question to the experts: is there an encoding issue with processing large amounts of data during the burn? If not, do you have an idea where I should start troubleshooting?

Other than the navigation problem, sounds like you are to a good start!

Get yourself a disc or 2 of DVD RW media since it is reusable. It is great for learning and experimenting!!!

Video is measured in TIME! Don’t use file size as it is totally useless in describing your production.

For you problem… Your Player may be sensitive to the media. Easy to test – does it work if you play the disc on your PC?

Most of us use either Verbatim & Taiyo Yuden for trouble free media.

There are a couple other things but I think this will clear it up and it is the most likely.
