I keep getting this error 0x80004005 when I use disc copy's Video Compilation feature. I setup about four divx clips then try to burn the project to an iso or file/folder. The dialog comes up thats it's working on it. Then a new dialog comes up with the error message. I have seen this problem posted before with no resolution. Has anyone fix this problem?

P.S. Hotfix for 0x80004005 didn't work

I just bought EMC8 to try divx HD, so I started with trying to make a dvd with already encoded regular divx files and I get the same error everytime error 0x80004005 also. Has anyone ever got EMC8 to work on divx and will it do divx HD. Does any techinal people from EMC8 read this forum

Has anybody found a resolution to this issue? Contacted Roxio, etc? This is completely ridiculous that such a gross problem could be unresolved in a software release.

Ok!! Using a handeld laser slowly burnin your data on the CD or DVD while waiting for a fix from Roxio/Sonic/WhoEver.

I have the exact same problem!! DOwnloaded the fix yesterday, installed it, and I still get the same msg. Although, I don't get it when I try to burn DVDs from Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0. The fix actually fixed my APE2 install. Who knows, maybe Adobe released the fix!!

The fix definitely does not fix the errors.

I have tried everything as well and nothing seems to work.
This is severely broken and very frustrating.

How about everyone who got this error list their computer specs, what type of media they were trying to burn, their driver, what kind of disk they were trying to burn to.

Also, please let us know WHERE you got the file(s) that you are trying to burn.

Sure - I'm getting this error on a brand new off-the-shelf HP d1450n, Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 4200+, Windows XP Media Center 2002 SP2, 2GB RAM, 250GB SATA drive, Litescribe DVD burner (came with the system) and am trying to burn some MPEG & DV video files I captured from my video camera. Media is CompUSA DVD+R 8.x

Basically, this is an out of the box brand new mainstream PC with the unchanged standard OS and industry standard media that worked fine with Roxio 7. Roxio 8 fails...period.

Maybe when you are doing the firmware update on your brand new PC, you can fix the application code so it displays a useful error code message rather than a number or add the error numbers to the help pages so those of us who know what firmware is can try and fix the application code with a new ROM.

Really? It's my job to reprogram Roxio's software so it doesn't throw cryptic numeric errors and instead actually tells you something useful? And yes, dipstick, the firmware is up to date. Condescending much? If you don't know what the problem is, don't reply...

With a new computer with all the power you have, why are you using cut rate discs? Go to your burner manufacturer's web site and see what they recommend.

And no one knows the correct answer until the problem is fixed and sometimes not even then. Finding a solution is a trial and error process.

Yeah, you're right. I shouldn't let little stuff like that get to me. However, I don't think that CompUSA media is considered low-end. It IS less expensive than Memorex, but it's much better than no-name cheap brands. I've never had problems with this media before.

OK, so this has not been addressed yet. I am very angry right now because of this. I am getting the same error. I am fully updated on Roxio 8. My DVD burner is Plextor PX-716A, and I DO have the latest firmware installed. I have actually been able to make avi's into DVD's in the past with this software so is this something that was screwed up with an update? The media I use is Verbatim (which my opinion is the best, bar none). I have now ruined three DVD's trying to accomplish this. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!

Since you jumped on to this thread, I'll guess that you are getting an 80004005 error. You don;t say, so I'll ask. Did you try the hotfix for that error that grandabruce linked to in his post?

And yes, I did the patch for this error. I figured that was assumed. The patch does absolutely nothing to remedy the situation.

I ended up restoring an image that I had with version 8 before the 8.05 update. Now it works fine. I am not installing version 9 until this problem is fixed.

This thread is not very encouraging....my issue is similar, but I crash out during rendering...

While rendering a 3 minute video created in VideoWave 8, the application crashes at approximately the same point (19%) and the following event is logged in the MS application log:

Faulting application videowave8.exe, version 8.5.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00011e58.

I used VideoWave 7 in the past with no incident and upgraded to videowave 8 last month. This is the first time I have tried to burn a video with version 8. The video runs fine in Videowave 8, but crashes during rendering in MyDVD 8.

System Configuration:
1GB RAM
1.7MHz Athalon processor
ATI RADEON 9550 video card with up to date drivers
Windows XP with all current updates.
DirectX upto date
OpenGL up to date
Disabled antivirus
Stripped out all unnecessary applications in MSCONFIG
I loaded hotfix EMC_MENUCODE
Ran a tool to make sure my Registy was ok.
Tried different combinations - hardware/software rendering, different aspect ratios on the output....

I'm hurting here....100hrs in a video production and now I can't render it. Help....anyone.

I also am having the same problem (error while encoding menu), I installed hotfix, and now I have a NEW problem. When I try to "Add New Movie" and select a file, "My DVD" shuts down. No error. No warning. Just ends. Anyone else experience this? Any way to uninstall the hotfix? Thanks.

I had that same error, the I installed Roxio Media Suite 9 and the error did not occur and I was able to burn DVDs that work great...

ROXIO SHOULD BE GIVING THIS AWAY TO THOSE OF US THAT BOUGHT version 8 !!!! Is their software police that we can call, cause we all have been ripped off with ver 8.

I uninstalled 8 and reinstalled it, got the same error; once again installed the hotfix. Now I still get the error- no change whatsoever.

I started with version 3 and worked up to version 8, but will NEVER go to 9. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me! In fact, I'm going to have to go back to 7.5

What's funny with me is that version 8 works fine. I do not receive the error with version 8. However, after I updated to 8.05 then I started receiving the error. I purchased version 9 largely hoping that this would fix the issue. WRONG. I still receieve the error with version 9. As I stated I restored an image that I had with the original version 8 (before the update) and all is working well now. This is where I am staying until someone at Roxio (or Sonic) decides to do something about this.

I learned a lot about the quality of the various brands of blank DVDs from this site. I friend pointed me to this site after I mentioned I was having problems with Memorex 16X DVD+R discs. I used the InfoTool in Nero Ultra 7 to discover that my Memorex discs were manufactured by CMC Magnetics and were rated as 3rd Class Media. I will definitely not buy Memorex DVDs again. So far I've had the best luck with Sony 16X DVD-R discs. They are rated as 1st Class Media and have a Media ID of SONY16D1. These are the Sony 16X DVD-R discs in the 100 pack with a yellow label.

By the way, it is highly recommended that you use DVD-R discs for video. DVD-R discs carry the DVD Video logo and are the most compatible with DVD players.
