I have just upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium, having previously had Vista Ultimate, I was forced to do a Custom install. This required me to re-install Creator 9. Now I have a Driver issue and the Creator 9 will not install. Sonic Solutions web support site says that there are unsupported compatability issues with Windows 7. Other than buying a full version of Creator 10, does anyone have any possible solutions?

The first thing that you need to do is use the proper name of the software that you have. Creator 9 and Creator 10 aren't the right names for any roxio software.

What version do you have? Easy Media Creator 9, or Creator 2009? There are folks, running Creator 2009 and Windows 7, with no problems. Some have posted in these forums.

If you have Creator 2009 you should be able to run it in Win 7. I've gotten it running in both the 32 bit and the 64 bit version of Win 7 Home Premium.

Yes, but it's not guaranteed to run properly because Sonic have found compatibility issues in Windows 7, as Jojoand has discovered.

I agree that it may not run properly, but I will have to check to see whether the problems I'm having with the media manager also occur in Vista. I also haven't tried out all the modules to see if everything is working, but for the most part, it does run.

I too just went from Vista home premium to Windows 7 Home Premium and tried to load Creator 2009.
It fails to run saying there are compatibility issues with RoxioCentralFx.exe
Others have posted that it does or should run on Win 7 but what can I do if it does not????

Go back to Vista, or upgrade to Creator 2010.

I'm surprised that you can't install it in Windows 7. I have installed it several times, both in Win 7 RC and after I installed the final release version of Win 7. I haven't found any serious incompatibilities, though I haven't tried out every module. You should at least be able to install it. I'll post later when I try to burn a DVD.

With all due respect.....At $100 a pop....People are just trying to find a way to get the program (2009) to work with Win-7.....So i don't think all these "Smart" answers/comebacks are warranted. It is what these boards are for...people to be able to discuss things and try and figure things out....Right ? Right !

How about hearing it from someone who tried it in 3 W7 installs? In only 1, it worked (partially) for just a few weeks. Music Disc Creator was the only program that was still working when I removed it from my system. Creator Classic threw up error upon error. The rest were no better.
If you have lots of time, knock yourself out and then share your secrets if it works. But, for those of us who have tried it, we got our answer, even if it wasn't the one we wanted.

Unfortunately there IS no solution - both MS and Roxio have tested it - it just will not function correctly

Thank you all for your comments. After having a computer crash -- I'm not ready to go through that again. The problem with the driver is ongoing. I give up -- and just ordered new 2010. But I did find a discount of 10% online to go on top of the already $30 instant discount when ordering through my 2009 program. So that helps a bit. Google roxio coupons and be sure to check for the expiration dates.

I have to say that this is really disappointing and I hope that Roxio understands that they are going to lose customers over this. I have also upgraded to Windows 7 and also have a Creator 2009 that will no longer work. How is it that so many companies can provide updates to make their products work with Win7 but Roxio cannot? Needless to say I will be doing my research to find the product that is best and will NOT be just running back to Roxio. I do hope that the Management team at Roxio learns from this massive mistake and sees the error of their decision. I have seen many a good company fail due to mismanagement such as this.

Creator 2009 came out a long time before Windows 7 - Microsoft made the changes that prevented if from functioning - not Roxio

A lot of us tried to get it to work - but it proved impossible due to fundamental changes in the OS

It was a similar story with EMC 7 - MS backported WMP10 and IE7 to XP - the result was EMC 7 failed to work - in that case, once again, it was a change in the OS that caused the problem (which again, was impossible to fix)

I guess I don't understand. People will upgrade to W7 for no apparent good reason and then complain about a program designed to work with XP /Vista that will no longer work.

Apparently many people didn't believe or didn't run the W7 upgrade adviser. Other than a W7 install on a new computer, no one with a fully functional XP or Vista has told us why the desire to upgrade to W7. ... but it is your computer and you did have a choice.

jojoand, please tell us what you are doing to get the program to run. Are you using the XP compatibility mode? If not, where can people buy your product that will allow 2009 to work on an W7? What applications are you using/have you tried? Are you able to open all the applications? How did you get it to install?

I recently purchased a new computer( HP) with all the bells etc.----my recent gift (ROXIO CREATOR2009)-- was not made for use in windows seven !!! the company has no intention offering you any patches or updates to use Creator 2009 with windows 7-- what you have to do is purchaseROXIO CREATOR 2010. My replys from several computer people said that most companies are now doing IT to us.---SO, my advise is to go to ROXIO WEB SITE and order the new version (ROXIO CREATOR 2010) at a savings of $40 dollars. You also will not find this program any cheaper it any of your local stores. Its not a fair deal for me, because I just got ROXIO CREATOR 2009 for Christmas!!!!---This is the American way---GOOD LUCK. I'm off to the internet to spend more money for the same thing----VIN MAN

If you decide to buy Creator 2010, I suggest you look to Costco, and buy the Creator 2010 Special Edition with the VHS to DVD connector for $59.99, including shipping and handling. Don't buy the Creator 2010 "update" offered by Roxio for $59.99. (Unless you like getting less for more!)

What I fail to understand, is how the full price at Costco for the newer version plus extas, is the same as the "discounted" price for an update? Makes you wonder if all that Roxio is after is your money, and not helping you get a problem fixed. HMMMM

Also, some of us did not upgrade from XP to Windows 7, some of us had motherboards and power supplies go up in smoke and were forced to buy a newer computer. The software came with it, and it works for all my older software (some of it is 5 years old). It was my newest purchase that didn't work (9 months old, and still being sold today, but not for Win7, with no compatible version available when purchased). HMMM again.
