Using Creator 2009 Ultimate on Windows 7 x86
I had purchased Roxio Creator 2009 last year and used in on Vista 32 bit SP2 until this week. I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 64 bit.
Roxio will not open on this system. I have done a clean reinstall using Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Package before reinstalling to no avail. I have tried the MS Compatibility Wizard to no avail. Roxio suggestion is to buy Rioxo Creator 2010. I have a feeling that Windows 7 is Vista compatibility problems all over again?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your post is somewhat confusing as you start out saying W7 x86 but then you say your laptop is x64. Are you trying on 2 different computers?
I seem to be one of the lucky ones who have no problems with it on x64 but many have posted problems with it. However, it's not listed as W7 compatible but I think it should work. As 2010 is listed as W7 compatible, Roxio will support it but you should understand that win 2009 came out, W7 was not out and Roxio should not be expected to support a product for an OS that wasn't even out yet.

I had the same problem. I upgraded my current PC to Win 7 64-bit (From Vista 32-bit) and now I can't get Creator 2009 to install. Keeps stating that it's not compatible, and the suggestion is to purchase 2010 version. Roxio doesn't even have a patch for this, and no mention if they plan to do so either. Instead, every where I go in Roxio's page, they are pushing the purchase of 2010.
I believe this is a gimmick to get us to purchase the new version. So much for support of their products. I can understand that some features may not work and probably could be disabled unless upgraded, but to have the whole software not work is, as far as I'm concern trickery.
I ended installing Ashampoo Burning Studio, which, BTW, is much cheaper, works well with Win7 and gives me what I need. After many years of using Roxio, I finally feel that I have to retire it for good. There are other software out there that are less expensive and with better support for their software.
I don't like to be forced into purchasing a new version each time there's a change unrelated to Roxio itself. And yes, Win7 may be different than Vista, but not so much that it would cause 2009 not to work at all. Specially when many other software less "robust" than Roxio works well with Win7.

I have to post with updated info. For some reason, what was working in the past for me is not longer. Only a few apps now work for me. I get the 'unable to load skin' errors among others. I tried a repair install and it did no good.
As I said before, it's not a sanctioned to be compatible with W7 so we're on our own. In my case, I've removed it completely from W7.

Mine stopped working today ago. Windows 7 had 9 updates when I shut it down today, so I imagine one of them killed my Creator 2009 software :-(
