why does Easy VHS to DVD Capture keep losing signal ?
I'm using an imac G9 with Snow leopard. I'm trying to capture concert video from a memorex dvd. At first it worked fine but now it keeps stopping the capture and telling me that roxio vhs to dvd is not connected to my mac. So I disconnect and reconnect it. It comes back on and then quits again within a fews seconds. Thanks for any advise.

Some Physical Checks to make:

AC Power! Nothing on battery

Unplug and re-plug ALL connections

Support connections and wiring – leave nothing dangling in the wind

Computer overheat?

My new Imac did seem really hot and I don't hear any fans.
So should my mac be getting that hot ? Should I hear the fan inside it ?
I let it cool down and put a small fan behind it. Just for good measure I unhooked my printer.
It seems to be working now.

iMacs/Mac Mini's run very silent and don't require standard fan technology.

While the heat may have been a factor (the data your computer crunches the hotter it will get), it's also equally likely that removing the printer may have improve the communication speed for the USB capture.

I only played the Heat Card because I was running out of good ideas

It can happen, but pretty rare in MAC. More common in PC’s since users can and do bolt on more devices than the basic designed ever intended
