You remember pretty good Bruce. You're right. The downloaded versions already have all the updates. It's only the retail version that needed the update as there is no way of telling when the actual CD's were manufactured for the retail CD and most probably before the update was available. I would suggest that the OP does a repair on the original downloaded program. (Control Panel--Add or Remove Programs). If the OP still ahs the original EXE files from the original download, one could actuall un-install the program and then re-install it. Hopefully that would get rid of the problem.

Thanks. So why does it tell me that it had downloaded an update every time I start the software?
I did repair the original installation. Still get the message.
Maybe it will be down to a complete uninstall reinstall. That might also fix the darned thing's failure to recognise audio CDs in one of my drives. All my other software see them just fine.
Or do I have to buy 8.0 to get this stuff to work?
I always thought that 7.5 was a ripoff, charging people for a repaired 7.0. That's why I did not dive into 8.0. Roxio's sharp practices did not encourage me to expect much improvement.
