I have a DVD burned by my cameraman of video project we did from mini DV. Went to make a copy in Toast.

Tried in the Video tab. lots of problems.
First message says, 4 files are unsupported.

saw a large black triangle, VTS-01-1

Toast started doing, "multiplexing vts-01-1"

What is that?

anyway it ended with a "could not record because of Mac OS error, result code=50.

also, want to ask, what is difference between choosing DVD Video and DVD video from TS?

So I did this in the Data tab and had no problems there. thanks. but why ever use Video tab -- so many headaches.

If you want to make a copy of a DVD (or a disc image on your hard drive) use the Toast Copy window.

As for the problem you encountered. DVD video is for encoding the video (if necessary) and authoring a new VIDEO_TS folder prior to burning the DVD.

DVD video from VIDEO_TS is for dragging in an existing VIDEO_TS folder to burn it to DVD. It is the same as dragging a VIDEO_TS folder to the Data window when you have chosed DVD-Rom (UDF) as the disc format.

never used the copy window, never even noticed it. Been using the data window so far.

See, right now, I just want to copy the Full DVD, so I'm not authoring etc.

Now for 3rd paragraph, on TS, then no real advantage in Video window. It seems a lot of these windows are redundant. no?

Yes there are some redundancies in Toast. But here is what I recommend:
To copy an existing disc or disc image use the copy window.
To burn an existing VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD use either the DVD Video from VIDEO_TS setting in the video window (especially if it will need shrinking to fit a single-layer disc) or use the DVD-Rom (UDF) setting in the Data window.
To create a new DVD menu and/or encode other kinds of video to a video DVD use the DVD video setting in the video window.

don't understand much of that, but may down the road. It seems to me the data tab is overall easiest.
