Read the manual. Still don't understand how to make a label from a picture or scan of a label. Any ideas?

Yes, you are probably reading about Label Creator and trying to use Label Creator (Assistant). Open Label Creator from the Home/Applications/ menu and selecting label creator from one of the applications listed. It is much clearer there since one of the options is "edit background" (select your image) and the other is "scan image". I always found that it is better to scan the image to your computer using the scanner hardware and then use "edit background" to put the image on the label.

Another couple of items. Make sure you have selected any other label template other than one of the ones designed for lightscribe.(File/Select Style). Get rid of all smart objects to begin with; add them in later. You can select full face labels later. Manipulate your image to fit (unlock, drag to position and resize using the corners of the image). An image with the key part of the image offset is best to get rid of the center hole problem.

Even in advanced mode, the minute the picture is selected it locks up and goes into "not responding" mode. I have to ctrl/alt/del in the task mgr to get out of the application. I have used EMC for years and never had this many problems.

This generation of label maker is piece of junk-- I may uninstall and go back to 7.5...

You will have no argument from me on label creator but V 7/7.5 is just as bad. Google for a free label creator and use that. I use the Lightscribe enabled Sure Thing Labeler. It will do what you want and auto fill from a CD.

Now if you are having a lot of problems with V8 other than label creator, put your computer specs in your signature. Update both the drivers for your video card/chips and DirectX 9c. Together those solve most of the general issues.

Make sure you have lots of defraggemented free space on your hard drive.
