When I use Label Maker from EMC 7.5 to create a label, randomly but becoming more often, the label will preview and print a solid black. If I just add a single title with a single letter, there will be a band of solid black on the same "track" of where the letter is so I don't think there is a hidden background or anything. I can't reproduce getting it to work but sometimes if I close and reopen Label Maker and go through the steps to make a CD, it will eventually work but it seems to be getting harder to do.

What quality are you using? I saw this ONCE on the highest quality but couldn't reproduce it if I switched to one of the other quality settings.

Any of the Qualities do the same thing...

1) What make/model/firmware of LightScribe drive are you using
2) If it is appearing this way in Print Preview, no need to burn any more at this point...
3) Can you download and install the updated LightScribe driver and see if this helps?

Sorry for the long delay...

1) HP_DVD WRITER 640C with firmware JS04
2) Yup, realized after the first try
3) Pulled latest and nothing.

It appears to be random, I did 2-3 burns successfully but it started up again...

While I was searching around up at LightScribe's website, I saw a free version of a label maker that they are offering; SURETHING 4SE. I downloaded it and burned one label without an issue. Have a dozen or so labels to make but it is a good start...

I have a new HP m7657c and purchased EMC 9. Label Creator is previewing everything I try to print to the Lightscribe drive as all black. I've downloaded all the latest 'system' files from lightscribe.com. Just wanted others to know that there are several of us with this problem.

Same here. Last time I burned a label, probably about two months ago, everything was fine. Tonight it previewed black and printed the same way - now I realize not to do that again. Grrrrrr. What's up? I have more trouble with Roxio's applications.

I went to the link given for the Lightscribe update but got an error message: We apologize, we were unable to find the driver description document you requested.

You haven't upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 have you? We know that it 'breaks' other parts of EMC 7 and it's possible that it breaks this part of the program too.

At the top of the VideoWave 7 Discussion Board, there are directions on how to remove IE 7 and roll back to version 6, or Microsoft has instructions on their website.

Please let us know if that's the problem and if removing IE 7 solves the problem.

Actually I did upgrade, probably a couple of months ago too, but it had the negative effect on some other part of Roxio's application (possibly slide show, can't remember now), so I reverted back to 6 right away.

Did you check the lightscribe page? I've just been there and it works fine

I do have IE7 on my machine. I also realized that this is the EMC 7 & 7.5 forum. I'm using EMC 9. Sorry. I did get frustrated enough that I bought Acoustica's product after test driving and seeing that it worked fine.

Let's see. We have EMC 7.5, EMC 9, and Ezwhatever 6, all in one thread. To all, if you want whatever program you have to work, get rid of IE 7, come back and post if all is well again.
Dave_1369
FYI... I did install the latest Lightscribe system software with no change. I need IE 7 for other reasons so went with something that worked with IE7. Thanks.
gi7omy
Well if you really NEED a browser that wrecks other apps besides EMC, that won't work on at least 25% of the websites out there, that is not W3C compliant, then it's your choice

Your kidding, right?!!! blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

OK, I uninstalled IE7 and Label Creator worked. I then reinstalled IE7, and it STILL works. So something got hosed somewhere. Anyway, I'm now running correctly with IE7, life is great. smile.gif

Don't hold your breath on that - IE7 is one unmitigated disaster. If you recall IE4, that was supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread - 7 is another 4
