Thanks for your reply. This is my first time around with Bump so help is appreciated. I cannot burn a DVD on my laptop. Perhaps you are correct that they are links to my computer. However------------
Using Bump I clicked on Disc Information and Bump advised that the disc had 1 track, used 702. MB and free space is now zero. I don't understand this, as the Job report at the completion of my backup project indicated that 125.MB were used after compression and 168.3 MB prior to compression. What is troubling me is where the other 577MB are coming form. I'm really not concerned if I have to install another CD when adding to the back but I am perplexed. To add to the mystery, I subsequently discovered when searching for an unrelated file in "My Document" folder a short cut named "backup", so I clicked on it. It connected me to the backup CD which I had in the D drive with the backup icon on it. So I took the CD out of the drive and went back to the document folder and clicked on "backup " again and I got a message asking for the CD. I installed a different CD in the drive and received a message saying this was not the correct CD. So here was a functioning short cut in My document folder relating to the backup CD and I don't know how that short cut got there. All looks very puzzling to me as I don't understand what is happening.
I am not sure what to tell you. As a test, I backed up some data, 2.28gb, to a DVD-RW. After completion, it reported 2.28gb file on the DVD and that the capacity was 4.482gb. this was under tools/media/identify. After the format it showed as 0 used. The only thing I can think of is that you backed up more than you thought. Have you looked at the catalog for that backup. Also use the restore window/device view to look at exactly what is on the disk. It will tell you all the files on the disk.
When I look at it in windows explorer, it shows the whole disk be used, even after a format only, no backup. File backup.qic.
As for the short cut in my documents, are you sure this wasn't in the recent files folder?
