I recently upgraded from RecordNow Max (4.x) to 8 Premire since the older version caused "Page fault in non-paged area" BSODs, but now I can't get my MPEGs on my hard drive to play properly. Problems include:
- MPEGs being reported shorter that they actually are.
- Playback "freezes" on one frame.
- Playback stops/loops at a point before the actual end.
- Playback suddenly "fast forwards" through frames or skips ahead several seconds.
These problems were not limited to Windows Media Player. It occured in Winamp and Quicktime as well. I did uninstall RN8P and the MPEGs did play normally. This means that RN8P installed a defective MPEG codec, which I found using a program called Sherlock.
I need a way to disable, remove, or bypass this bad codec without removing everything and let Windows' codec take over. That or find an updated codec for RN8P
